Save Yourself

Save Yourself...

They tell you that you're not alone,

And claim they understand.

But even if this feeling has been felt before,

It isn't any easier to withstand.

You've been searching relentlessly,

For what; you don't know

You can't describe what you really need,

You're going somewhere no one can follow.

It washes over you,

Surrounds you and binds you.

You want to run and hide,

Yet you want someone to find you.

Suddenly you're somewhere

You never thought you would be.

You wish that someone would

Just once hear your silent plea.

All the secrets you wished to keep,

Now you want them to be stolen.

Because if they were then maybe

You would be caught before falling.

You only want someone to notice,

They don't even need to help.

Because sometimes it hurts less to confess

When someone finds out what you had to tell.

Never once do we let ourselves free,

Why are we our own enemies?

In a world that wants to cause us grief,

Why are we never our own relief?

Maybe if we were

More kind to ourselves

Then we would become

Our own saviors
