Mae's story has concluded here, but that does not mean it is over. There are many more events in her future that can determine if she fails or triumphs, tests that seem small, but with her memory and experience, can shake the Earth she stands under. Ones in which her morals are tested and she has to decide between sticking to only her job and a life of solitude, or being surrounded by those she cares about and letting herself fall. An immortal's life is sad towards the end of their peers', for they cannot immediately follow them. Mae refuses to fall in love and refuses to change or affect the destinies of those around her, but with every single step she has already done as much. Destiny cannot be kept the same by one person, for it is forever changing and evolving. Mae has to learn to accept it in the future.
With this life of her story complete, along with the perspectives and stories of her friends and acquaintances, there is much more out there that awaits them. More mystery and more adventure, some that they never wished to happen in the time that they existed. Friends to enemies, enemies to friends. Stupid decisions made by some that are smart, and smart decisions that are dumb. An eagle's eye watches from atop the shoulder of a powerful friend as she stands over the castle that her new group of friends is in, but the guilt on her shoulder of her past life won't leave.
There may be a sequel to "Portals & Realms", since there is so much left to tell that I simply couldn't fit in this book, but that depends later down the road. It was a long journey, taking about 3 years to complete along with the 2 months of publishing the chapters, but it was worth it. I can look back on this and cringe and laugh at what I wrote while still being proud of it. It makes me smile. I hope it did for you as well.
That's all from me. And with that, I wish you all a wonderful day.
