As I entered the kitchen, my nose was warmly welcomed with the scent of fresh pancakes and syrup.

"Good morning, (Y/n)-chan," Kaia greeted, a wry smirk on her face. "How'd ya sleep last night?"

"If she even managed to get any sleep, that is," Sakura added, causing them both to giggle. Sakura was perched on the island countertop beside a messy-haired Akaashi, helping him make and stack the pancakes.

"Ha, ha, ha," I sarcastically retorted, taking a seat at the kitchen table next to an extremely hungover looking Bokuto. Nala comfortingly stroked his arm as he rested his forehead on the table, occasionally letting out a tired groan, clearly unrecovered from last night's state.

"How you feeling, Bokuto-san? Shall I top up your orange juice?" I offered, placing a hand on his shoulder. He slowly raised his head and nodded, so I poured him another glass, as well as one for Nala and myself. Just then, Kaia brought over some fresh, hot pancakes, and triumphantly stood across from us. She excitedly set them down, clearly eager to devour them, but I had a feeling the pancakes weren't the only thing she wanted to dig in to; the glint of curiosity in her eyes was almost intimidating.

"Eat up, dumbass, you need it - but save some for the rest of us," she softly laughed, ruffling Bokuto's hair. "So, (Y/n)," she trailed off, "how'd everything go? Tell me all about it." She leant her elbows on the table and placed her chin on her hands, her dark brown eyes glistening. God, she was nosey, but it just made me smile.

"I'm not discussing anything at the moment," I snarkily replied, shoving half a pancake into my mouth as I smiled back at her. I knew she was desperate to know all the details, but there was absolutely no way I was going to talk about it in front of Akaashi and Bokuto, especially since the latter couldn't keep his mouth shut to save his life. Kaia's face expressed severe disappointment, so I reassured her. "Don't worry, I'll tell you everything you want to know later tonight - I'm just super tired right now and Iwaizumi's coming to pick me up soon, so I better just eat and leave."

Kaia's giddiness promptly returned. "Ooooh I can't wait to hear all about it!" she giggled, taking a seat opposite Nala. They began talking about events at their own school, and Bokuto steadily made his way through his syrup-covered breakfast, so I turned my attention towards Akaashi and Sakura in the kitchen as I ate. They were laughing and giggling with one another, playing around with the utensils, enjoying each other's company like a young married couple would. Sakura dipped her pinky into some batter and smeared it across Akaashi's cheek. He looked back at her in playful shock, before she leant in and licked it off, making them both laugh. I felt a twinge in my heart at the sight of them as I suddenly became acutely aware of how alone I felt. I continued to stare, though, as the black haired boy flipped the pancakes with a spatula, and the blonde kissed his face all over. She hopped off the island and wrapped her arms around him, nibbling at his ear, a light dust of what seemed like flour on her nose. He stopped what he was doing and turned around to kiss her syrup-stained lips, dusting off her face as he did so. All of a sudden, I found myself unable to finish my breakfast, the syrup's sweetness turning sickly - what a bittersweet feeling it was to be so happy for other people, but to simultaneously envy them so much.

Just as I was lost in thought, I heard a car pull up outside - Iwaizumi. I thanked Akaashi for the breakfast and for letting me stay over on such short notice, hugged Bokuto and the girls goodbye, then left to greet a waiting Iwaizumi. I felt bad for leaving without saying anything to Oikawa, but I couldn't bring myself to think about him right now.

"Hey, (Y/n), you feeling alright?" Iwaizumi greeted as I sat in the passenger seat.

"Yeah, yeah, I'm good, thanks," I dully responded.
