As I walked through the school gates, the air around me felt lighter, and everything around me looked brighter. I realised this is the first time in a while where I haven't felt like shit. Instead, there was a sense of urgency within me this morning, almost like... excitement? I usually detest the thought of having to wither away at school for hours on a daily basis, but today I was eager - not just to see him, but to see Akaashi, Bokuto, Kenma, and Kuroo too. But I should have known that all feelings of happiness come with a price to pay, in my life at least.
As I entered my homeroom, I was greeted with 2 pairs of glaring eyes - I'll give you a chance to guess who they belonged to. Although I couldn't care less about what those two low-lifes thought of me, the fluttering in my stomach sank and was replaced with a heavy rock instead. I sighed as I walked over to my seat by the window, placing my bag down. Not many people had arrived yet, just Olivia, Caitlin, and two other classmates. Kenma was also here, playing on his Nintendo Switch at his desk.
"Enjoy Akaashi's party?" Olivia bitterly asked. "Heard he was having a blast with some random girl from Karasuno."
"Yeah, I heard that too," I replied to Olivia, before shifting my gaze over to Caitlin and slyly smirking at her. "Through his bedroom walls, I mean. It really did sound like he was enjoying himself. All. Night. Long." Caitlin's mouth dropped agape, her face turning a crimson red. I slumped down in Bokuto's seat next to Kenma. He was still playing his game, but his eyes flickered up at me as he grinned at my comment.
"Well, which boy wouldn't enjoy himself just for one night if some slut is willing to spread her legs open for him so easily? He probably never even spoke to her before then, and he'll probably stop speaking to her now - I honestly feel sorry for that girl." Olivia giggled, trying to cover up her friend's embarrassment. My heart twinged at her words, and doubt flooded my mind once again. What if Oikawa thinks the same about me? I never really spoke to him beforehand, and he invited me to the party so suddenly. What if... he's just... using me?
"And I heard about you and Oikawa-kun," she continued. "Just walking out from the same room in front of everybody. Do you have, like, no dignity?"
I didn't respond. She had a point I guess.
"Honestly, I'm glad I didn't stay there for long," Caitlin added. "I saw Kuroo and Bokuto just stood on the staircase with two half-naked girls next to them! In front of the whole party! God knows what those whores were doing with them." They both began snickering.
"At least those 'whores' you're talking shit about don't bite while giving head," Kenma sharply interrupted. He'd paused his game and turned around to glare at the now silent duo. "If you want male attention so badly, you should probably learn how to get people to like you first - and you're not doing too well."
"I- that means nothing, K-Kenma, no one asked for your opinion anyway," Olivia scoffed, her face burning up. If you want background on the comment Kenma just made, Olivia hooked up with some random guy last year at a party (what a hypocrite, right?) and gave him head, sort of. According to him, she bit his dick by accident, and it hurt pretty bad, obviously. I kind of feel bad for her because that's a pretty embarrassing rumour to have go round about you, but it's fucking hilarious at the same time.
"So it's perfectly acceptable for you to hook up with a guy you just met, but if other girls sleep around, it suddenly isn't? Sounds like jealousy to me, Olivia, and for the record, Akaashi, Bokuto, and Kuroo all actually really like those girls. So just fuck off and stop being a desperate bitch for once in your miserable life," Kenma fired back. Typically, he's a calm, level-headed person, so whenever he actually gets mad at someone, you know they're probably quite a shitty person.
"Whatever, those girls can do whatever they want, it's not like I actually care anyway," Olivia glumly stated as she finally calmed down and sat at her desk, clearly humiliated. I was grateful for Kenma's defense, but I still couldn't shake the anxiety about Oikawa welling up inside me.
