Zane, Jay, and Cole all showed at the same time. Kai was running late.
As usual.
The other 3 sat on a bench as they waited.
Zane was super jittery but not because of the wiring he knew nothing about, because this was his first time ever getting in trouble.
Cole had been through this before but still wasn't happy.
Jay. He'd never been in this kind of trouble before. Sure there were small things, but he'd never had detention before.
When Jay turned his head to look outside he saw Kai talking to his sister then hugging her and saying goodbye.
Cole saw this and decided to fill him in.
"It's been 9 years since their parents disappeared."
"Really?" Jay asked.
"Yeah." Cole responded.
"It sucks that there was never a proper investigation about-" Jay stopped speaking abruptly as Kai opened the front door.
"Aw, come on I thought I was the life of the party?" Kai joked.
"Did you bring the sparkling water?" Cole asked joking with his friend.
"Damn. Left it at home. Sorry." Kai joked back.
Jay laughed.
Zane still sat quietly. Jay lightly nudged him. Zane turned his head to his friend and didn't look amused.
"This is no laughing matter." Zane spoke turning back to face the front.
"Listen. You stood up to a bully. That's a good thing." Cole said. "My mom would've loved you."
The last part was under his breath only for him to hear as a small smile made its way into his face.
"Would have?" Zane asked.
Cole looked up. It was a sensitive topic for him. Sure it's been 5 years but he still didn't like to talk about it.
After all it is why he and his father fight so often. She would always intervene before things got too messy.
"Yeah." Cole spoke quietly, his smile long gone.
"I apologise. I did not mean to make you upset."
"No your cool. Don't worry about it." Cole waived it off. "It was just nice to remember her. For those few seconds."
Jay seemed to flinch. He didn't remember his birth parents.
How'd he know he's adopted?
Well for starters how about the fact that he looks nothing like his parents.
His father's dark brown eyes. His mother's green eyes.
Only the First Spinjitzu Master knows where his red hair would've came from. Both his parents had brown hair of some shade.
His parents had this weird accent but he can't even immitate it. He's extremely pale, his parents have a nice tan.
He eventually asked them of his origin. When they were all red faces and stuttering he knew.
"It doesn't take a rocket scientist to put together the puzzle pieces." He'd said leaving his parents speechless.
They didn't speak properly for a week. They only spoke when Jay asked about his origin.
"They left ya on our door step. There was this power surge that made your father go check the fuse box when he found ya."
They told him that there was a yellow blur. That's all he has to go on.
