 "Mom" I slid onto a seat in the kitchen, as she was preparing our late super. McDonalds on our 'special' plates. "It's just McDonalds"

She put nuggets and burgers in each plate, threw away the boxes and bags and took our plates to palce them oon the dinning table.

I rolled my eyes and made my way to the table and slid my headphones down to my neck.

"Why McDonalds anyways?" I huffed.

"It was the closest place and shortest line. Plus, I can't cook. Your fathe-" She quickly looked down to her plate.

"Mom" I took a fry in my mouth. "It's okay"

She lifted her head and her face seemed like a ghost; her skin pale and her eyes dark.

"Mom. The only way to get over it, is to talk about it" I reached my hand out on the table.

She reached my hand and smiled, squeezing it.

It wasn't much of a 'family' dinner. We finished our food quickly and she went into her room right away.

I placed my plate in the sink and made a mental note to wash it.

I skipped my way to the living room and jumped onto the couch, crossing my legs onto the coffee table. I slide back the headphones to my ear and closed my eyes for a split second before I looked at my phone that was laying beside my feet. I saw a flashing light so i bent over and grabbed my phone, slid my finger on the screen, typed my password and saw the text was from Luke's sister, Macie.
