Third-person pov

Milo and Melissa are sitting on the bleachers at the pep rally and Milo asks Melissa where Y/n is and Melissa tells Milo, "I think the cheerleaders recruited her for the cheerleading team."

Milo instantly blushes at that thought before the rally starts, Y/n with the cheerleaders chant: "We're the geckos we've got class, We're gonna climb right up your glass!" then they guy in the mascot costume run and sticks to a large piece of glass.

I turn to Melissa and say, "I never understood why people need a rally to get peppy," I pointed to the mascot guy as he slid out of the costume that was still stuck to the glass and say, "Does that make you feel peppier?"

"Yeah kinda does," Melissa said as Bradley walks up and says, "Hey Melissa, mind if I join you?" I see Melissa turn to him and say, "Sure Bradley have a seat."

I see him do a double-take when he sees me, he says to me, "Hello Milo," I reply, "Hello Bradley." I see him then head to the other end of the bleachers.

The coach then tells everyone that he knows we're going to lose hard, and adds in that Middletown Middle School had intentionally failed all their 8th-grade students. He also said we'd basically be playing against a bunch of angry adults, and that he'd be in his office staring off into space.

The band starts playing and I tell Melissa, "Now that makes me feel peppy," I start tapping my foot as Melissa says, "No Milo, don't tap. Remember what happened last time?" I turn my head and say, "What happened last time?" Then the bleachers break and everyone else slides onto the band. "Oh, now I remember." I said.

"You guys are coming, right? " Zack said, "It's my first game as part of the team," I enthusiastically replied,  "Oh my gecko, I would love to. I haven't been in years." Melissa then told him, "Last time he came, there was a llama stampede." I heard Zack say, "Llama stampede?" As Melissa told him, "Did you know they can spit 15 ft."

I then told Zack, "I haven't been to a game since. Though I do get nice thank you notes from the team, you know for staying away." I let go of the notes and who knows what happens once they're gone.

Then I turn and see Melissa telling Zack, "Milo and I have had a "Not Football Friday" tradition for years." Zack tilt his head up and say, "Not Football Friday"?" As Melissa tells him, "Yep. we used to bowl, but now we do things without dangerously heavy round objects. Like, play cards."

Flashback to playing cards

Milo and Melissa sit at a table with cards until an ape runs by and picks up Melissa who yells back to Milo, "It's still safer than bowling!" As a gust of wind blows the table over.

"But it's my first game," I hear Zack say and I reply, "It sounds nice but I try to support the team by staying away." Mort then walks up and tells me, "Coach said you could come to this game, 'cause it's the one game you can't ruin, on account of we're gonna lose." I say, "Really?" And Mort says, "Oh, yeah. They're better than us. Plus, I've got a blockage in my fourth chakra." I say happily, "Can't argue with a blocked chakra. I'm going!"

Mort then rolls down a hill in a dumpster and lands in the lake. "Sorry, Mort!" I call out to him, he says, "No, I don't think that was Murphy's Law.  I think that was my chakra."
