Chapter 59: Independence From Screenslaver

I needed to think. If breaking the goggles is what it takes to free them. Who would be easier to try and get their goggles off? I didn't have enough time to think as X23 charged at me, claws out ready to impale me. I immediately dodged out of the way, causing X23 to stab into the wall. Seeing an opportunity I webbed up X23's wrists, making her fully stuck to the wall. I ran up behind her, using my forearms to drive her head into the wall. I heard a clang as well as glass shattering, as I saw the pieces of the goggles fall off and Lara was back.

"Huh? What happened?" She asked as she used her foot claw to slice the webbing away and free herself.

"No time to explain. Just knock the goggles off of people!" I shouted as my Spider-Sense went off as Brick grabbed me and slammed me to the ground. I saw Elastigirl wrap around Brick's neck and pull her back as Mr. Incredible punched her to the ground, hitting her one more time for the goggles to break. I saw Violet put a force field around He-Lectrix, which bounced his electricity back at him and electrocuting him. I saw the goggles visually short out for a second or two, which was more than enough for Jack Jack....turn into a demon baby and smack him to the ground, knocking off and biting through his goggles.

What the heck did Elastigirl and I miss? I thought to myself as I picked myself up off the ground and I immediately had to avoid a teleporting kick from Nightcrawler. Elastigirl was having to try and work around Voyd and her portals, which gave me an idea. I jumped next to Elastigirl, let Nightcrawler teleport in front of me and grabbed him by the head and neck. When Elastigirl tried to avoid another portal manipulated punch from Voyd, I tossed Nightcrawler in front of the punch, which shattered Kurt's goggles.

"Huh?! Wie lange war ich draußen?!" Kurt asked in german. Translation: How long was I out?!

"I'll explain later! Focus on the one that have goggles!" I instructed, Nightcrawler nodded and teleported to try and handle Gwen. I felt a sudden rush of heat as Reflux was spewing lava onto Violet's force field, which Frozone was countering with his ice powers. Once Frozone overwhelmed Reflux, he froze the goggles and snapped them off of him. Dash was then swooped up by Screech and was taken outside into the air.

"Jack Jack! Laser eyes! Pew pew!" Violet said as she grabbed her baby brother who started shooting green laser beams from his eyes which shot out Screech's wing. When Dasha and Screech fell to the ground, Screech lurched over Dash.

"Dash! Rapid fire bicycle kicks!" I instructed. Dash quickly started kicking Screech in the face at high speed.

"Pop up! Cyclone maneuver! Haymaker!" I instructed as Dash followed my instructions to the beat. Screech's goggles were gone.

"Where did he learn that from?!" Mr. Incredible asked me.

"I taught it to him on the island," I simply replied. Kurt and Lara were both trying to fight Gwen, who was dodging out of the way with as much grace and agility as I would. That's when I thought of something.

"Everyone attack Gwen!" I shouted.

"What? Why?!" Elastigirl asked.

"Spider-Sense can only react to so much at a time. Overload that, we can stun her with a headache!" I replied as we all started trying to attack her all at once. Violet was using moving force fields, Dash was trying hit and run tactics, Elastigirl and Voyd were using the same portal punch methods. He-Lectrix was trying to zap her, while Mr. Incredible and Brick tried grabbing her down and hitting her. Frozone was trying to freeze her, while Screech was trying to sonic screech at the goggles. I saw it, the gradual pain setting in from sensory overload. The staggering movements, the erratic head movements. I knew them all to well, because when I had them happen to me often in my early days as Spider-Man...the thing that lead to the death of Captain Stacy. When she started holding her head, I knew it was time.

"Everybody move!" I yelled, running up to her. I jumped up, and drove my feet directly into the back of her head. I felt her head make impact with the ground and I felt the lenses in her mask breaking and heard them deactivate. I rolled back in front of her to see her wake up.

"Huh?! Oh...my head....what happened?" She asked groggily.

"I mean I had to break your lenses somehow. The main thing though? Gwen Stacy, you just went through Spider-Sensory overload. It ain't fun is it?" I quipped.

"You're right....it isn't..." Gwen said as she staggered to her feet. The plane part of the Hydrofoil started to activate and detach itself from the ship.

"Evelyn! She's escaping!" Elastigirl realized. I shared her look of concern.

"Well? You two go after her. Finish your mission," Mr. Incredible said.

"I can't just go! What about the kids?! Jack Jack?! Who's going to-"

"Mom! We've got this. Go," Violet encouraged

"I have the issue of no mask. So what am I going to do?!" I asked. Violet took her mask off and handed it to me.

"Take it. Just make sure to give it back when you get your mask back," She joked. In that moment...I had never been more proud of her. I looked at the black domino mask....and put it on.

"Voyd! Come with us!" Elastigirl instructed as the three of us went running after Evelyn.
