"Mom," I groan. "When can we meet him?"

My mom stands in the bathroom, curling her hair for her date with the mystery guy. . Again.

"Soon," She answers simply.

Austin comes through, ear buds in his head. "Time stood still, the way it did before. It's like I'm sleepwalking." My brother sings lowly as he passes the bathroom. I grab his swinging arm, stopping him.

He pulls an ear bud out. "Wha-"

"Mom is going on another date with mystery guy." I explain. "And we still haven't met him."

"So?" My brother asks.

"So, we need to meet the guy." I tell him.

Austin looks at my mom who is putting lip gloss on. "When will we even meet him?" He asks her.

"Like I told your stubborn sister, soon." She sprays perfume on herself.

"Soon as in soon soon or soon as in soon?" Austin dumbly asks.

I blink at him and so does my mom. "Well," she answers, blinking again. "Soon."

I roll my eyes, groaning. "Fine." I say. "Where are you guys going this time?"

My mom doesn't notice that my voice has an edge to it. "Oh! We are going to a fancy restaurant out of town."

"Sounds like it'll be nice." I answer as my brother walks away, putting his ear buds back in.

"Yeah I do too." She smiles at me, walking out of the bathroom.

I follow her. "Will you at least tell me the guys name?"

My mom grabs her purse, looking at her phone. "He's here to pick me up."

I smile. "I can go outside and see him. What's his name?"

"No don't go out there, we have to be at the restaurant at a certain time. We have a reservation, his name is Ryan."

She kisses my cheek and walks out the door.

Well looks like it's just you and me, Netflix. I think with a small smirk and sit on the couch.

"Okay, I am so bored." I say the next day at school.

Butt hurt jerk and I were sitting at the library, daydreaming.

"Well go read or something." He suggests in a rather rudely tone.

I raise one eyebrow. "What crawled up your butt this morning?"

He glares at the ground, not looking at me. "Nothing, what crawled up yours?"

"Nothing did mine. But something obviously crawled up yours, because it isn't nothing." I retort.

He rolls his eyes. "I'm just not in the mood today."

I scoff. "Apparently."

He grits his teeth, but keeps looking at the ground.

"Today is Friday and it's the day is half way over, it'll be over soon."

I look at my water on the table. "I hope."

"It will be," he assures. "Look sorry about being kind of snappy at you."

"Kinda?" I joke. "It's okay. I wasn't that upset about it anyway."
