Luna Lupin was born with luck on her side. After all, it was luck that led Fenrir Greyback to her brother's room and not hers. He was the one cursed with monthly transformations while she could have a normal life.
Of course, being five when this happened, Luna didn't exactly understand what it meant when her mom locked her in her room 'for her protection'. She couldn't quite grasp the concept of a werewolf or how her typically docile twin brother could transform into something incredibly dangerous once a month. All she knew was that, from that day forward, once a month, her brother would return home exhausted, scared, and hurting, and she would bring him his favorite jumper and some hot chocolate because those always made her feel better.
It became a tradition for this to happen even as they got older. The twins' parents thought it was the cutest thing ever. They were worried how well their children would get along as they grew, but Luna and Remus loved and cared for each other. They bickered like most siblings do, but never truly fought. Any disagreement could be easily solved by the Lupin's number one treat: chocolate.
The amount of chocolate in the house is overwhelming. Each person has their own personal stash-at least a week's worth, which is a month's worth to a normal person. People say Switzerland eats the most chocolate, but they obviously considered the Lupin family outliers and they were therefore not counted in the UK's chocolate consuming total. Because if they were, their family alone would have skyrocketed the UK past Switzerland's total.
Chocolate is exactly how they celebrated the twins' receiving their Hogwarts letters on their eleventh birthday: chocolate cake with chocolate icing and chocolate ice cream. The Lupins always knew Remus and Luna were magical, but they didn't know if Remus would be able to attend due to his condition. Luckily, the new headmaster was willing to accommodate for him. So it was September 1st, 1971, when the twins boarded the Hogwarts Express for the first time.
