Finally the next morning came and I was out of bed quickly. I still hadn't had a plan but I think I had an idea. Where the white shirt with a jacket over it and the shirt tucked into a long skirt. Under the skirt was my pants but I rolled them up above my knees to show my stockings and my shoes. I would put the shoes in my bag and some of my mom's makeup to contour my face to look more manly. The vest was folded nicely in the bag also. My plan wasn't foolproof but I hoped it would work. I rush downstairs to the kitchen to get some tea and breakfast. I look around the house as I do. Once I enter the kitchen I see Samual buttering toast.
"Where is mother?" I ask.
"She has to go to work early, she said she had an order to fill by the end of the day so she needed to start early" ht explained
"Oh" I say. I grab a piece of toast and take a bite of it.
"Hey what happened to-" Sam looks at my skirt.
I open my jacket to show the shirt and I open my bag to show the shoes and the vest. He nodded. I eat my toast.
"I was gonna wear this so mother didn't now but since she isn't hear I can just leave dressed like a boy with no worries!"  I say wiping my face and hands from my one piece of toast. I rush out of the kitchen and to my room. I take off the jacket and the shirt before I roll down the pants and change my shoes. After I put on my vest, I try to figure out a way to make my hair look like a boys. I brush it and put it in a bun.
"I need something to..." I get an idea. "Cover it!" I grab my stuff and go to Sam's room where I grab one of his newsboy caps. I put it on making sure that my bun was under the cap. I use the makeup like I had intended before I rush downstairs to the front door. Sam was waiting for me and he smiled. "Perfect" he said and we leave the house for school.
On our walk we begin to chat. He tells me about how to be a boy. How to walk, how to talk and just how to act all around. I copy him to make sure I was getting everything write.
"You're making a pretty good boy" he puts a arm around me.
"Thanks" I chuckle. "I hope it will work"
"Me too" He smiled.

Once we made it to school I stop walking. "You go in first" I say.
"Alright" He walks into the schoolhouse.
I wait a few seconds for me to walk inside. Once I think it's time I walk up the steps and stop at the door. I get nervous, very nervous. I want to rush home and change and just come in late. But I knew I had to do this. Maybe all the teasing would finish. I stop being timid and I walk in. Everyone was standing around and taking. When she sees me, Diana gasps at the look of me. All heads turn to me. All but Billy, who's back was to me. Charlie looks at him and points at me. Billy turns around and sees me. His mouth opens in surprise and his eyes look me up and down.  There where looks of horror and confusion. There was no whispering, no talking, just eyes on me. I gulp softly and wave, I walk to my seat and I could feel everyone watch me as I do. When Mr.Philips comes in he looks at me confused and also horrified
"I wasn't told we would get a new student" He said through his teeth. I give him a look and Jane rushed to me.
"What are you wearing?" Jane asked.
"I wanted to prove your brother and Mr.Philips right" I say.
"Everyone take your seat!" Mr.Philips shouts.
We all rush to our seats and I sit down in my seat.
"Mr.Gray" Mr.Philips comes up to me. "I suggest you sit with the males" he smirked.
"Yes sir!" I say happily and put on my cap again. I grab my things and walk over to the boys section. Billy tells the boy who sits next to him something and he goes to sit somewhere else. Billy scoots to the other side of the bench and pats the spot next to him. I blush lightly and sit down next to him. I put a foot on the table.
"With your foot of the desk!" Mr.Phillips said pointing at me. "and I was joking! Come back to your seat so we can start."
I put my hands up in surrender before I take my foot of the desk laughing. I get up and head to my seat. I sit down and Mr.Philips starts teaching class in an annoyed fashion.

Once lunch came I walked with Jane outside but we got stopped by Anne and Diana.
"I think you look absolutely charming" Anne smiled.
"Thanks Anne" I chuckle.
"I've never seen a girl wear...pants" Diana said.
"They are very comfortable"
"I bet they are" Jane smiled.
"Do you two mind if we sit with you?" Diana asked.
I look at Jane and we both shake our heads. "No we don't mind at all!" Jane smiled. We walk out the door but I'm stopped again in the entryway. Someone grabbed my arm and pulls me back. I tune around to see, Billy, who else.
"That was some stunt you pulled" he smirked. I put my hands on my hips. "I guess you do have guts"
"So you didn't think I have guts because I'm a girl?" I ask raising my eyebrows.
"Yeah. I-I mean no" he said shaking his head.
"So You didn't think I have guts, I didn't think you could speak to me like a decent human being. I guess we were both proven wrong" I smile a smug smile.
"I guess we were" he said smiling back at me.
"I should head to lunch. With Jane and the others" I say.
He nodded. "Have a nice lunch" he said.
I smile and leave the schoolhouse. My face heats up and I turn into a tomato. As soon as I sit down Jane, Diana and Anne all ask what happened and where I was. I tell them casually. I try not to make it obvious my feelings for Billy but Jane knew. So I only had to hide it from Diana and Anne.
"So why is your face all red? Did he say something sweet? Like something from a romance novel?" Anne asked dreamily. Even though she hated Billy. She must like the idea of a romance between the two of us.
"No he just made me a little angry" I lie. "He said I had no guts and he was surprised I pulled something off like this." I say angrily. I open my lunch and start to eat signaling I didn't want to talk anymore about it. But I told Jane what actually happened on our way home. I knew I could trust her with it. Diana and Anne. Not yet.
