Days until Louis' birthday: 0
Louis woke up early that morning, his knee aching slightly. Harry was already awake, he had been getting more sleep to counteract the tiredness his medicine gave him. Harry noticed Louis was awake so he made the older boy a cup of tea and gave him the painkillers for his knee and the antidepressants that he took.
'Morning boobear. Happy birthday!' Harry said, kissing Louis' forehead.
'Thank you darling. My bloody knee hurts so freaking bad, did you bring me my medicine?' Harry nodded, giving Louis the pills he took and the tea that he had made the older.
'Can you rate how bad it hurts for me? Out of ten?' Harry asked, holding Louis' hands.
'Like an eight? It's really bad today. Thank you for taking such good care of me, angel.' Louis said with tears in his eyes. He took his medicine.
'Smile for me, Lou. I need to know that you're gonna be okay.' Harry said, holding his boyfriend's hands. Louis smiled his bright smile, his eyes crinkling slightly, Harry smiled back at him lovingly.
'Thank you, Harry. I love you.'
'Get ready for the day. Mum and Gemma will be downstairs soon and Jay will be here with your sisters in like 10 minutes.' Louis sat up on the sofa, reaching for his crutches. He pulled himself up, using his crutches to hobble into the kitchen. Harry followed him, walking behind the older boy slowly so he could catch Louis if he fell backwards. Louis sat down at the table as Harry put some bread in the toaster to make some breakfast. The toast was cooked and himself and Louis ate their breakfast. WHilst they were eating, Gemma walked in, ruffling Harry's curls and wishing Louis a happy birthday. Anne followed her, holding an empty coffee mug.
'Can I stay in my pajamas with Louis all day, mum?' Harry asked, Anne nodded in response. Harry had brought christmas pyjamas for himself and Louis, and they had already started to wear them. Louis was against the idea at first, but after seeing how adorable Harry looked, he had to put his pair on. They had lounged around in them all day yesterday and slept in them last night. They were incredibly soft and comfortable. Harry brought Louis his toothbrush and toothpaste so he could brush his teeth before everyone came and Harry stood next to him, making sure that Louis didn't fall. Minutes later, the doorbell rang. It was Jay and Louis' sisters, all carrying arms full of Christmas presents.
'Morning everyone!' Jay said, smiling. Herself and Louis had very similar smiles.
'Morning mum!' Louis called from the kitchen.
'How are you feeling, love?' she said, giving her son a quick hug.
'Not bad, not great either. You?'
'Just glad to be home. Harry, thank you for taking such good care of Louis whilst I've been... you know.' Harry nodded, saying it wasn't a problem. Louis' sisters ran straight over to Gemma, telling her about the movie that they had all watched together. Harry smiled at Louis, who smiled back. This is what family felt like.
'Louis, are you ready to do presents?' Anne called, practically having to shout over the noise of everyone talking and catching up. Louis shouted a quick 'yep!' back. Harry was snuggled into his boyfriend's side. Since Louis had dislocated his knee, cuddling had been more difficult but the two of them managed to work through everything. The two families gathered in the lounge as Louis began to open presents. He had opened everything apart from Harry's present and Jay's present, leaving the next two til last. He opened Jay's first and saw it was a voucher for driving lessons.
'I got you this when you still had a functioning knee, we'll have to put this on hold until you get better. I'm not going to be driving my car much, and I'm sure Anne and Gemma don't want to have to take you two on your cute little dates anymore.
