"Hey babes," Mari smiled, as she entered her best friend's apartment.

"Hey boo," Sahara welcomed her in. "You brought me something?" she pouted, seeing the box in her hand.

"Yes," Mari laughed. Sahara acted surprised when Emari brought her food, like she didn't do it all the time and Mari found it hilarious. "I made you the cupcakes you like and made you a few cake pops," she informed her.

"My tiramisu cupcakes?! Baby you are a saint," Sahara whined.

"I made Rashaad—"

"Did I hear my name?!" Sahara's boyfriend popped his head out their bedroom door and made his way to the living room. "Whatchu made me lil sis?"

"Rashaad you a nosy ass nigga. You was just waiting on her to say she made something for you," Sahara shook her head. "Don't give him nothing, Mari,"

"Mind yo' business," Rashaad shot back. "Whatchu made me, sis?"

"White and dark chocolate strawberries ," she giggled.

She had known Rashaad longer than Sahara actually, because he's one of her brother Zion's childhood friends. She and Zion were the closest in age, only being nine months apart, he being born in December and she in September. So often, his friends were typically her age or a bit older and were always around since they all went to school together.

"See, I knew I liked you better than Zion ugly ass. Thank you, Mar," he cheesed.

"You're welcome, and I'm telling him you said that," she laughed as the girls went to get comfortable on the couch. Due to them both trying to be good and save for their vacation this summer, their traditional girls night had been turned into a movie night at home.

Every summer, Emari and Sahara—and Rashaad if he wanted, went on vacation, it'd been that way since their first summer after graduation. Whether it be somewhere in the states or otherwise for a week out of each summer the girls were not in Chicago.

"So, catch me up, how's everything?" Sahara crossed her legs on the couch, taking a bite from her cupcake.

"Everything's fine, I just saw you, ma'am," she giggled. It was Saturday, and they were just at work the day prior. "I should be asking you. How's everything with ma and dad?" she asked, referring to Sahara's mom and almost step dad.
