"I feel like shit," Mari whined after sneezing into yet another tissue. "I wanna go to sleep, but I can't!"

"I'm sorry, my baby," Xavi sighed, running his hand over her head. "That medicine still ain't working at all?" he asked as she laid in his lap, nose stuffed.

A few weeks after her birthday, at the beginning of the new month of October, Mari fell sick. She didn't know want it was, if it was a cold or the flu since both seasons were upon them, but she was miserable. It didn't help that she was also on her period at the moment, but luckily today was her last day.

"No," she shook her head, cuddling up closer to him, enjoying the warmth he was giving her because she was freezing cold. "It's so cold in here, Dooda, is the fan on?" she asked.

"No, baby. You're burning up, we might need to take you to the emergency room, Tink. You not looking good," he said, lifting her head up to look in her eyes. She looked exhausted with red eyes that were watery, and she was sweating, but she kept saying she was cold and it was making him nervous.

"I—," she coughed loudly and hacked, it sounded very dry and he was even more scared. "I'll be okay, I don't think it's that bad," she coughed again.

"Baby, I don't know," he sighed. Having a niece who was very sick as a baby made him alert to every single symptom in a person, and she was having too many for him to react normally. "I'm nervous,"

"It's okay," she said, shutting her eyes. "If I wake up and its worse tomorrow we can go, okay? But for now can I stay here?" she mumbled, wrapping her arms around his torso. "You're keeping me warm,"

"Mhm, lemme get your blanket. You need to eat something when you get up okay?" he said, pulling the thick comforter over her body and his legs. "You haven't eaten well all day,"

"Okay," she nodded. "I love you, thank you," she rasped, since her throat was killing her.

He leaned down to kiss her forehead. "I love you too, try to get some rest," he said. He felt terrible that she was hurting and sick like this, he just hoped by the time she woke up she'd be feeling better.
