Rayne finished tidying China Sorrows' desk, and started to head over to the other side of The Sanctuary, with hands in pockets. She was wearing a black T-shirt, underneath a black jacket, with a strip of red fabric from shoulder to shoulder. She wore black jeans, and black boots which went up to her knee. She walked, and as doing so, held her hand up to her golden locket. It was cold, luckily. At times in nights, it would heat up, maybe to about fifty degrees Centigrade, with the swirl in the middle, glowing bright red. And would be Inputting those horrible nightmares into her mind. She sighed, looking at the locket again, then tucking it into her shirt.

As Rayne reached the door, she heard chatting, low hushed chatting. She opened it slowly, and stepped inside...

She scanned the room, seeing Skulduggery Pleasant, in his usual black suit, hat, and tie, he was sitting at a table. In front of him, sat China Sorrows, looking as elegant and beautiful as ever. At the side of the round table, sat Valkyrie Cain. Black hair, dark eyes, black jeans and black shirt. Rayne smiled, sitting down.
"Sorry I'm late," she said, "I was busy with something."
"Oh, it's fine," China said, looking through her notes, "We weren't staring until you were here anyways."

"Okay, thank you for understanding," Rayne said, smiling. She looked at Skulduggery slightly. He glanced back, they stared at each other for a few seconds, before China looked up from her notes.

"So, what's going on." China said, setting her files down onto the table.

"The Midnight Rivers Are back," Skulduggery said, removing his hat, "They'll probably swallow up the whole of Ireland if we don't stop them."

China sighed, "Oh hell no..."

"Sorry, I'm slightly confused," Rayne asked, turning towards China, "What are The Midnight Rivers? They sound oddly familiar..."

"A year after I allowed you to stay with me," China said, "There were rumours of these small rivers, falling from the mountains. Their water, being a very pale purple, then would fade to blue. At the beginning, nobody paid much attention to them. However, every midnight, their current would become stronger, stream getting heavier. Ireland was almost drowned, but a team of sigilists managed to contain it. Meaning, that someone has destroyed the sigils. Who, Skulduggery?"

Rayne looked at Skulduggery

Everyone looked at Skulduggery

"Well," Skulduggery began, acting nervous, "Valkyrie and I, were in the mountains, we were consulting to someone who could have possibly helped us with the latest investigation. As we tried to get in, we assumed that there would be sigils, blocking the entrance, and would keep us out. But, instead of destroying the sigils we needed to destroy, Valkyrie, destroyed the one containing The Midnight Rivers."

"How come I get the blame?" Valkyrie said, sighing.

"Perhaps it could be the fact that you are the one who is to blame?"

China rolled her eyes, "Shut up," she said calmly, "When did this happen, and how did you realise it was the wrong sigil?"

Skulduggery glanced at China, tilting his head slightly, "It happened earlier this morning, 1AM," he said, "and the stream restarted."

"Oh hell" Rayne whispered

"How heavy was the stream?" China asked.

"It was the same as how it started. Just a small stream."

China nodded, "I think we have a few days to redesign the sigil, which should work. Then a month to get it up the mountain, and carve it into or near the old location."

Rayne thought for a second, " I could help? I mean... sigils is my discipline. I think I'd be able to redesign it, or at least get as close to the original as possible."

China looked over at Rayne, "Are you sure ?"

Rayne rolled her eyes, "I'll be fine." She said, "I could do it."

"Okay then," China said, "We'd probably need a team to get up the mountain."

"Who's gonna go..?" Rayne asked.

"well," Skulduggery said, "Valkyrie and I will obviously be going, because we know where the original location was. I nominate Dexter Vex, and Fletcher Renn would be at use, too."

Valkyrie nodded, "They would."

"Sounds good," China Sorrows said, looking at them, "Anyone else?"

Rayne looked at China, "perhaps Tanith Low would be able to? She's quite professional."

China nodded, "good idea, is that all?"

They nodded.

"Now, lets get to work."
