Tonight was supposed to be your magical date night with Cody. Celebrating your one year anniversary. According to him the night was well planned. A nice dinner out. Along with a few surprises. Deep down you felt bad he planned everything.
You felt worse about not being able to make it.
(D/n) had come down with the flu. You didn't want to leave her with someone else, in case they'd get sick, or you would accidentally get Cody sick.
Every time you tried to call him (D/n) would need something: water, crackers, wash cloth, etc. So, you sent him a long text message apologizing for having to cancel, promising to make it up to him.
Or at least you thought you had sent it.
*Knock knock*
You quickly tip-toed to the door, trying to avoid waking the sick girl up. You thought it was the pizza you order online. It was already payed for all they had to do was drop it off at the door. Instead you were face to face with your well dressed boyfriend.
"Babe, what are you doing here?" You asked.
He looked at you confused, a small frown forming. Seeing you in sweats rather than the dress you had picked out wasn't helping either.
"I'm picking you up for our date." He answered. Handing you the flowers he had bought for the event.
Smiling at the sight of (f/f) you gently hens them, breathing in their beautiful scent.
"I told you I couldn't make it." You signed. Not at him, but at the fact he still came. At least that what you thought he was doing.
"No, you didn't."
You perked up at his words. 'Did he not get it?' You wonder. Reaching for you phone you saw the the text was never sent in the first place.
Then you remembered. (D/n) asked you for her dog stuffed animal to be heated in the dryer. The one Cody got for her on her birthday. She never let it go. It was her favorite toy that went everywhere with her.
"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry. I meant to sent you a text explaining that I couldn't make it, because (D/n) sick, and I can't just leave her with someone, and I don't want to get you sick. She hasn't gotten any better all day, and she finally went to sleep. I can't believe I didn't send it. Now your here and angry." You rambled. Hands over your face.
Cody looked at you in awe the entire time. He knew that his girl wouldn't leave him alone on their anniversary without having good reasoning.
He stepped in, taking off his suits jacket. Placing it on one of the hooks next to the door.
"What are you doing?" You asked.
"Helping my little girl."
And just like that you knew for a fact this was the man you were going to marry and be with for the rest of your life.
