Jordyn Merrill
Day 4, the 4th day, the 4th time i have written here, etc...
So let's just say all the peace and happy fun times didn't last long. We all might die tonight, and Cassie refuses to talk to us because of a 'feeling' she had. Fun.
I woke up at like seven-ish, normal time, really. I dug out some pancakes from one of my earlier cooking sprees, and warmed them up for everyone. We mainly ate in peace, a few squabbles, but nothing I couldn't handle easily.
We were getting ready to leave, when problems started to arise...
"Jor, can we stay home today?" Cassie asked, surprising me
"What? Cass, you know that our time is precious, we can't take breaks" I responded, trying not to express how stupid I thought she was being.
"I just have a really bad feeling about today, like something's about to go wrong.." She confided. I still kind of thought she was being stupid
"You can ride with Will, if you want?" I suggested
"No-no-no that would just make it worse, I'll just come with you guys, i mean we're prepared for anything, right?"
"Yes Cass, we'll be perfectly fine." I comforted her, patting her shoulder gently "Let's get going, we have a way to go today."
The weather was pretty cold outside, but that was nothing to cause suspicion, since the first snow storm it has been freezing, the snow still hasn't entirely melted, but today was even colder than normal. I could see dark clouds covering the sun. looking back on it, the signs were all there, I should have seen, but I just have to keep telling myself that it's in the past now, it's over, nothing can be done.
We walked for almost an hour without a hitch. The only thing noticeable was that it was getting colder.
"God it's cold today" Denny commented, proving that I was not alone in this thought. I agreed with him, and we started to move at a steady jog. I checked every window, but there was no sign of light, we could've been more thorough, but we all just wanted to get back to the warmth, we could always come back this way. We were almost two hours in when Cassie spotted the first snowflake. She caught it on her hand, and we watched it melt. I looked to Denny, Denny looked to Cassie, and Cassie looked to me, we had no clue what to do. We stood there in shock as more and more snowdrops descended, rapidly increasing in pace.
"DO we have time to get to the meeting spot?" I asked, raising my voice to beat the volume of the wind.
"I don't know" Denny replied, his tense voice showing concern.
"I TOLD YOU we shouldn't have gone today" Cassie snapped, annoyed.
"HOW COULD I HAVE KNOWN THERE WAS GONNA BE A FREAKING SNOWSTORM" I yelled as the wind grew louder and louder, faster and faster
"YOU SHOULD HAVE LISTENED TO ME INSTEAD OF WRITING ME OFF AS A PARANOID IDIOT" Cass screamed, raising her voice even louder than necessary
"GUYS, WE CAN DO THIS LATER, RIGHT NOW WE NEED TO RUN TO THE MEETING SPOT AS FAST AS WE EFFING CAN!:" Denny shouted, battling the wind, and we took off at a sprint. We would have to come back and check this area again, we couldn't risk missing anything important.
"OKAY" I yelled, as we ran "IF WE CAN'T MAKE IT HOME, DENNY, YOU'RE GONNA TEXT YOUR DAD AND LET HIM KNOW THAT WE'RE STAYING SOMEWHERE ELSE UNTIL THE STORM DIES DOWN"
"JORY, WITH THIS MUCH SNOW, I THINK WHEREVER WE ARE, WE'RE GONNA BE STUCK THERE FOR AT LEAST A FEW DAYS, PLUS MY DAD NEVER READS HIS TEXTS" Denny yelled back, panting slightly
