Clarke's POV:

Pain. That's the only thing I remember feeling. I opened my eyes slowly and realized I was in the hospital room again in a bed. I groaned and moved my hand to my abdomen where most of the pain was centralized.

"Clarke?" A voice asked, from close by.

"Lexa?"

"No. Raven."

"And Octavia."

Suddenly my eyes focused on the two people standing in front of me and it was in fact Raven and Octavia.

"What? What happened?" I asked, trying to sit up in bed but they pushed me back down gently.

"Easy there Griffin. You just woke up from surgery, you aren't supposed to move too much." Raven said, trying to calm me down.

"Surgery? Wait...I'm alive."

"Yes you are and we are trying to keep it that way so please don't do anything stupid." Octavia joked, earning a small chuckle from Raven.

"Wait a second where's Lexa? What happened with the surgeries? I thought we were supposed to be put in the same recovery room."

I watched as Octavia and Raven exchanged a quick glance and suddenly their expressions changed. I felt my stomach drop and I started to feel dizzy.

"Where is she?" I asked again as the world around me became blurry and the room started to spin.

Raven suddenly moved to sit on the bed and Octavia took a step closer and held one of my hands.

"Clarke." Raven began. "There was a complication during surgery."

No. Complication? No. That can't be true. That's no how this was supposed to go, there were supposed to be no complications. "What happened?" I asked in a shaky voice wondering if I was actually really ready to hear the answer to that question.

"Well the removal of the kidney went perfectly." Raven explained. "After taking it out of Lexa they introduced part of it to your body and you two really did have a perfect match. Your body didn't over produce antibodies or anything and it started to re-grow inside you. Once the main part of the operation was completed, it was time to close you two back up. That's when it happened. Lexa's body just randomly started going into a cardiac arrest. The surgeons had to end up re-starting her heart. Once they had her stable again they found out she went into a coma. They finished closing Lexa up and she's stable now but she's in the ICU on life support. I'm so sorry Clarke."

I didn't know what to do or say. It was like my entire world just fell apart and shattered into millions of little pieces. I felt completely broken inside. I noticed that Octavia and Raven were trying to
talk to be but I was totally lost in my own world. I couldn't hear anything they were saying anymore and the only thing I could feel was a horrible pain in my chest and the hot tears that slowly began to trickle down my cheeks.

The world around me became blurry again but I no longer cared. I started to feel super light headed and I felt my eyes slowly drift closed. My breathing quickened and I felt like passing out all of a sudden. I could hear what sounded like yelling from far away. The next thing I knew, my eyes were open again and I was surrounded by doctors and nurses. I felt a sharp prick in my arm and everything went black.

"Clarke?"

I opened my eyes to see my mom sitting at a chair next to my bed with Octavia and Raven next to her. I wanted to sit up and go find Lexa but I felt like my entire body weighed 1,000 pounds.

"Mom? What happened?"

"I'm so sorry sweetie the doctors had to drug you. You were going into a state of extreme panic so you had to be temporarily sedated for your own safety."

"No. Help me up mom I have to get to Lexa."

"Clarke she's in a coma in the ICU. Besides you need to stay here and rest. You need time for your kidney and body to accept Lexa's or none of this will work. What is the point of any of this if you hurt yourself and mess up the healing happening in your body right now?" My mom asked, giving me a small frown.

"The point was for Lexa and I to be together! I need to see her mom!"

"Maybe we can ask for Clarke to be moved into the ICU room next to Lexa." Octavia suggested.

I gave her a thankful and eager nod and Octavia and Raven left together to go see if they could make that happen. There was an awkward moment of silence between my mother and I until finally she spoke up.

"You really love this girl don't you?"

I nodded my head and my eyes started to tear up.

"I'm sure Lexa will pull through Clarke. From what I heard from Titus and Lincoln she's a very strong woman."

"Are they alright? Titus and Lincoln?"

"They are doing as expected with the current state she's in. I don't want you to worry about them though. If anything everyone's worried about you Clarke. You know that Lexa wouldn't want you to get hurt right now. Lexa would want you resting and recovering."

"No. Don't say that mom you don't know what Lexa would want."

"Maybe that's true...but I want you to really think about it for a second. Would Lexa want you risking your body to get to her while you try to recover from such a big surgery?"

I paused for a second and really thought about it. "No." I admitted, letting my head fall. Lexa wouldn't want that.

"I'm sure Raven and Octavia will be rather convincing with the doctors anyways and you'll be in a room with Lexa in no time."

I hoped so desperately that what my mom said was true and that soon I'd be able to see my love again. I need to be with her right now. I need to be with her always. Lexa can't die...she has to be ok.
