Addy's POV
What an eventful day.
That is what I think to myself when I lay in bed that night. I remember Katie standing up for me when Bathroom Boy called me Addy. But them again, I called him Tyler. That was a mistake though because I actually thought that was his name. It might have meant something to him too because he corrected me pretty quickly.
I take out my laptop and begin to write. I've decided to turn my life story into a novel with fictional characters. Mostly because I don't know most of these people's name, but also the fact that I never go into the non-fiction area at the library. I don't like non-fiction. It leaves little room for the imagination. That's a lovely line, but I'm not sure if I made it up myself, or if a heard in somewhere. I sigh after 30 minutes and shut off my laptop.
I wake up to my alarm, at 7:15, and change out of my Dollarama T-shirt. I put on a skimpy black tank top and white shorts. Turning around to admire myself, I realise that this shirt is way too revealing for my taste. I sigh, wishing I were brave enough to where it. I dig through my clothes and submerge my bright pink Levi's sweatshirt. It makes me look like a little kid, but I put it on anyway. I comb my brown hair and use two black bobby pins to hold back my bangs. What an odd question Tylen had asked last night. My hair is brown. It gets lighter at the tips, but it isn't blonde. Or is it? No. Definitely brown. Grabbing my toiletry bag, I leave the room.
"Adelaide." Tylen is there at the door, with his fist up in the air as if he's about to knock.
"Hi."
"Hey, um... I was going to knock." He says the last part quietly, confirming my thoughts. I stare at his raised fist and he immediately drops it.
"Okay." I try to walk around him, but he steps in front of me. "What do you want?" I snap. I'm not in the mood for this right now.
"Nothing, I just," He stops mid sentence as if to think about what he's going to say. "Can I have a bar of soap?" Soap? That's what he needed?
"I don't have a bar of soap. You can use my body wash though." I dig through my bag, and hand him my shea butter vanilla body wash.
"Is that coconut? I love coconut." He takes it from me and looks at the bottle.
"No, of course not. I hate coconut." I make a face and he laughs.
"Okay." I stare at him for a moment before walking past him.
"Wait!" I groan.
"What!" I yell, startling the short young man passing by. I give him an apologetic smile, and he returns it. Tylen clears his throat. I turn my attention back to him and wait. I watch as Tylen fidgets with his fingers for a while.
"Um, let's go to the showers yeah?" I scrunch my eyebrows together.
"Okay..." The side of his mouth quirks up and I give him a small smile. At the bathroom Tylen opens the door for me, which was totally unforeseen. I think he surprised himself too because his eyebrows shoot up along with mine. Though he quickly recovers, while I stand frozen by the door. Tylen looks at me expectantly, so I walk though the door.
Tylen follows me through the maze of half-naked college students. I find a row of four empty stalls and go into one of them. Tylen goes into the one next to me. I pull the curtain closed and begin to shower. Halfway through, I realise that Tylen has my body wash. I knock on the side of the stall and call out.
"Tylen?" I wait for his reply and stop the water so I can listen better. It doesn't come. "Tylen!" I yell, I bit too loudly. A lot of people stop their showers as if to listen to what I have to say. I feel myself flush in embarrassment.
"What?" He calls back, shutting off his water too. Great. Now I have his full attention.
"Um...I need my body wash back." I bite on my lower lip as I wait for his reply. Then, a hand shoots in through the side of the curtain. Tylen's hand, holding my body wash. I gasp and pull the curtain back. Taking the bottle, I mumble a quiet thank you and continue showering. I finish up in the washroom and leave before Tylen is even done showering.
After classes today, Natasha and I walk back to my dorm. Katie texted me earlier to say that she and John are going somewhere. She didn't say where, but I'm happy that they're rebuilding their relationship. Katie and I are a little different now, but I suppose it's my fault. I text Sunny so that he can come over too, and he texts back that he'll be right over.
"Addy? Did you here me?" Natasha suddenly asks.
"Sorry, what did you say?" A guy on his scooter passes by, staring at us. I shoot him a glare and he quickly scoots away.
"We should go to a party!" Natasha squeals excitedly. I think about it for a while. Last time was terrible, and I'm not sure if I want to repeat that experience.
"Okay." I say without thinking. Natasha hugs me and we leave.
