Chapter 11: Flashbacks and Nightmares

Ian's POV

Napatingin ako sa relo ko. Maga-alas tres na pero hindi pa rin nagsisimula iyong meeting. Supposedly ay ala una pa ang meeting pero hindi kami makapagsimula dahil wala pa si Ms. Syra na siyang mago-orient sa amin para sa next round. May emergency raw kasing nangyari. Halata na ang pagkainip sa mukha ng ibang participants. Lumabas muna ako sa conference room nang biglang makita ko si Mario Quirino, my stepbrother.

Her mom, the doctor who tried to "revive" my mom, is the new wife of my father. They built a happy family just a year after my mom died.

"Ian, it was nice to see you here," anito saka kumamay sa akin.

"Likewise," tipid na sagot ko rito saka nakipagkamay rin dito.

I might hate his mom and my dad but I just can't get mad at this guy. He has always been so nice to me and never did he treat me bad despite the bad treatment I used to give him.

"You must be a part of Royal Runway, right?"

"Yeah. We're just waiting for Ms. Syra."

"She's already here. I came here with her actually. Nasa ospital kasi—"

"Mr. Leandro Malik! Mario Quirino! I don't know you two know each other?" putol ni Ms. Syra kay Marqui. Dumating na pala ito.

"Yeah, he's my brother," nakangiting sagot ni Marqui.

Napatingin ako rito. Ever since he always introduce me that way.

"Yeah, he's my brother," segunda ko rito.

"Oh? Really? What a small world!" tila nagulat na sambit ni Ms. Syra.

"Kayo po ba, Ms. Syra? How do you know Marqui?"

"Ah, he's a friend. So shall we come inside?" aya niya sa akin.

"Ah, Ms. Syra, can I just follow later? I  just need to have a minute with my brother." sagot ko sa kaniya.

"Ah, yeah sure."

"Nasa loob na po ang mga staff ko. Sila na lang po muna bahala."

Tumango na lang siya saka pumasok sa conference room.

"Ah, thank you, Ian." ani Marqui.

"For what?" tanong ko rito.

"For calling me your brother. I've been waiting for this moment for so long. "

"Who am I to refuse? Having a brother who's a doctor is something someone should be proud of."

Nagkatawanan kami sa sinabi kong iyon.

"Anyway, ano pala'ng kailangan mong sabihin?"

"About the last time, when you saw me hugging your girlfriend? That's actually a mistake. Akala ko siya iyong kakilala ko. I'm sorry."

"Oh... That. Wala iyon. She's already my ex actually. During that time, I'm trying to win her back but I failed," malungkot na wika nito saka nagbuntong hininga.

Hindi ko alam kung bakit nakaramdam ako ng tuwa sa halip na makisimpatya rito. Shaune's sister captured my attention the first time I saw her. At hanggang ngayon, umaasa pa rin ako na magkaroon ng chance na mapalapit sa kaniya. But it is indeed a small world dahil naging boyfriend pala nito si Marqui. How fortunate could he be?

"Dahil ba sa pagyakap ko sa kaniya kaya hindi na kayo nagkaayos?"

"Ah, no! That's not it! Well, I really hurt her. It's me, I'm the problem," he smiled bitterly. "Oh, sige, una na ako. Kailangan ko nang bumalik sa ospital."
