~No One's POV~

Being the daughter to a billionaire father isn't always sunshine and rainbows, especially when your father is a grade-A asshole and has no sympathy for other people. He's the CEO of one of the biggest companies globally and was known by the public as a great man. But behind closed doors, he was nothing but rude and demanding. He controlled every part of your life.

How you dressed. What you ate. Where you went. Who you dated. Everything you did was monitored under your father's watch. And it was no secret that being the CEO of a large company, he was bound to gain enemies along the way.

Your father has made plenty of enemies in the tech industry and with the people who can see through his facade. You couldn't really blame those who hate on him, you hated your father as much as the next guy did. You've always favored your mother over your father but she passed due to a heart attack.

What made you hate your father even more was the fact he didn't attend your mother's funeral. He was off on a business trip in another country. Or at least that's the excuse he gave you.

You thought you couldn't hate him even more but of course, he proved you wrong. A couple of months ago, he introduced you to a boy around your age and told you that he had arranged a marriage between the both of you.

You were furious and tried to fight with your father but he slapped you across the face and called you ungrateful in return. He told you he did this out of good intentions for you and the family fortune. The boy's family was also wealthy and marrying him would make both your families richer.

It was the night before your wedding and your father had planned a big celebration. He decided to hold a ball in honor of you and your fiancee's upcoming wedding.

You plastered on a fake smile as you greeted and spoke with guests at the party. Having to hide the disgust whenever you had to display affection towards your so-called partner.

The ball was grand and of course, it was masquerade theme. Everyone had wore masks, some encrusted in diamonds while others were coated with gold.

Your fiancee told you that he needed to take care of something, leaving you by yourself. You were actually glad he left, you could finally take a deep breath and relax a bit. You found yourself an empty spot at the edge of the room where you leaned against the wall. You frowned to yourself, wondering how you got into this position. That maybe if you did something different in your past, maybe you wouldn't be here? Maybe if you were a bit more defiant and stubborn, you could have stopped the wedding.

Your ears were suddenly filled with the melodic sound of the grand piano in the ballroom. You looked over and noticed the old pianist was now replaced with someone else. The new pianist had long red hair and her back was facing towards you.

The sounds of the piano quickly drowned out the chattering of the crowd and you find yourself moving away from the wall to get a closer to get a better look. You watched as her fingers danced along the piano keys with grace as her head gently sways to her own music.

You didn't know how long you were staring but you snapped out of your trance when everyone around you started clapping. You watched as the pianist stood up from her spot and turned to the crowd. Her mask was completely different from everyone else's.

Rather than have her mask overwhelmed jewels, gold, silver, and other expensive things, her's was a simple cat steampunk mask with a single blue jewel covering her right eye. You saw a glimpse of her left eye as she bowed down. A flash of lavender. The girl also wore a simple black suit with a cape that had an anchor pin.
