~No One's POV~

Being Aiden's best friend, his parents also expect the best from you. You were like a daughter to them since you were always around a lot. Both your parents are really close and they always wanted the both of you to hang out. The both of you could tell that your parents are trying to set you up.

They're always trying to set you two for study sessions and put you into the same activities. But little do both your parents know, Aiden was dating someone and you had your eye on someone else. You couldn't help but stare and get flustered whenever she walks past you or when she throws you a small smile. Your friends would try to set the both of you up but you always get too nervous and back out.

"(Y/N), just ask her out already!" Caleb said. You slam your locker shut and glared at him, "You think it's that easy?" Caleb gulped nervously at your glare and you sighed sadly. "I want to. I really do, but I don't even know if she's into girls. Besides, I'm not her type." You said as you walked away with your books. Caleb goes after you and places a hand on your shoulder, "You're a good person (Y/N). Even if you think you're not. You should give it a try." He gives a bright grin before heading off to class.

You had a free period so you decided to hang out in the band room. Luckily, no one was there so you sat at the drumset. You always had a passion for playing drums but your parents always wanted you to play the piano or violin. You told your parents you started taking piano classes with Aiden but really the both of you would go to the band room to hang out while you would play the drums.

You also learned to play the guitar and you were trying to play the saxophone now. You plugged in your headphones and began to play the drums. You allowed yourself to lose yourself to the music and focused your concentration on playing.

You didn't even notice the band room door open and someone walking in. You saw a pair of shoes standing in front of you which you didn't really pay attention to. It could be Aiden or some teacher going to ask you why you're in here. Once the song ended, you took off your headphones and looked up at the person in front of you.

You felt your throat go dry when you saw who was in front of you. Maria was standing in front of you with her arms crossed over her chest, staring at you with a blank expression. You gulped nervously and let out a nervous laugh, "Hi?"

You expect her to scowl you for using the band room without a teacher in the room, but instead her a huge smile appears on her face. "I didn't know you played the drums," She said with a smile with a hint of excitement and curiosity in her voice.

You swore you felt your heart explode right then and there. You got up and coughed awkwardly, "Ye-Yea. I don't usually tell people because they might tell my parents. Only Aiden knows. And now you." "How come your parents can't know?" She asked. "They don't want me to play drums. They want me to play stupid piano or violin." You sighed.

You saw her frown which made you panic a little, "But it's nothing I can't handle! It's still better than the situation of them making me trying to date Aiden." Wrong move. This only made Maria frown even more. Not only that, there was something in her eyes now, anger? Maybe jealousy?

"They can't do that to you!" She said in a sudden outburst. Your eyes widen in surprise at her yelling. You've never heard her yell before, she's mostly calm and handled situations well. Not saying this was a bad thing though. She saw your surprised expression and blushes, "Sorry. Unless you're actually fine with it though."

"It's not that. I only see Aiden as a brother and they can't see that. Besides, I like someone else." You said, muttering the last sentence. But it was loud enough for Maria to hear.

"Really who is he?" Maria asked, trying not to sound sad or jealous. "I mean, he's a girl." You chuckled. Her eyes widen slightly in surprise before clearing her throat, "Sorry. I didn't know you like girls." "It's fine. I don't often tell people." You said, smiling reassuringly.

You saw her cheeks turn pink before turning her head away. She faces you again, the pinkness of her cheeks were gone now. "Who's the girl?" She asked. "I-I can't tell you," You stuttered and looked down. You couldn't tell her that you liked her. As much as you wanted to, the words wouldn't come out of your mouth.

"Are you planning to ask her out to prom?" Maria asked. "Maybe not. I don't even know if she likes girls." You sighed. "You should try at least. She might say yes. You're a really good person (Y/N)." She replied.

You look at her, the both of you blushing while looking at one another. "I-If she says no, then she's a complete idiot." She said looking away blushing even more. You couldn't believe that she thought of you that way. Or was it because she just wanted to be nice?

"Really. She's lucky to have someone like you go after her." Maria said with a pained smile. You frowned at her forced smile and all you wanted to do was pull her into a hug. You couldn't take it anymore and it began to hurt you looking at her forced smile.

"Mariawillyougotopromwithme!" You shouted really fast. She stares at you confused, "I'm sorry (Y/N), can you please repeat that slower?" You take a deep breath and nervously gulped, "Maria, will you go to prom with me?"

She stares at you in shock and doesn't say a word. You frowned, knowing that you messed up and grabbed your backpack. "I'll leave," You whispered and slung the backpack over your shoulder. As you turned to the door, you felt a hand grab your shoulder and turn you around. Your lips were met with another pair of lips. They were soft and the kiss was gentle.

You felt Maria pull away, looking at you with her cheeks red. You felt like an idiot when you realized that you just stood there when she kissed you. "So-Sorry I didn't kiss back. It wasn't like I didn't like it. I-I did like it. I just didn't expect you to kiss me like that." You began to ramble on.

She smiles and takes your hand in hers, making you shut up. "Don't worry about that. And I would love to go with you." She said with a bright and genuine smile. You smiled brightly and squeezed her hand.

The both of you walked out of the band room, talking about whatever came into mind. It turned out you had nothing to worry about after all. And if your parents even try anything to get between the both of you, you would fight them no doubt.
