Freshly showered, shaved, dressed, hair straightened, makeup applied, Rosalind was ready. It may be an interview for a job, in the underworld. She didn't quite understand how real it all was, but maybe, if Atticus turned up today, she might find out. She didn't want to overthink this, just go with the flow. She made sure to put a cookbook filled with dessert recipes, in her bag.
"Rosie!" Archer's voice reached upstairs, she ran down, her bag and her shoes in each hand. "It's for you."
"Thank you," She smiled and stood in front of the door, taking his place. She faced Atticus, he had a bright blue button up shirt on and black pants.
"You look amazing." He breathed, stepping back for her to follow him out.
"You do too, Atty." She grinned and waved goodbye to Archer by the staircase.
"Where to?"
Atticus told her the directions down to the city, almost half an hour's drive, they parked up near a high street.
"You know that travel centre?" He pointed down the road, a minutes walking distance.
"Mm..." She hummed.
"We go to the staff bathroom." He said.
They left the car and begun their walk. It was windier than she expected, her skirt being held down by one hand and the other holding her bag.
"I didn't dress for this weather." She mumbled.
"I'm not complaining." Atticus held his hand on the small of her back and opened the front door for her. The lobby was small, and overly strong scent of lavender filled her nostrils. Her nose scrunched up, and without realising, caught a dirty look from reception.
"Just here to use your bathroom." Atticus winked at a tall, red haired man, who looked eerily like one she'd seen in the underworld. But no horns.
They almost rushed to the bathroom, but once through the door, it looked like they'd stepped into an elevator.
"Huh?" She furrowed her eyebrows, turning around and inspecting the small room they were in.
"Insane, hey." He smiled, watching her try to figure out how it worked.
"Yeah." She smiled back, stopping and taking a moment to appreciate his beauty. The doors opened, and he gently led her out.
Pythia was sat at reception's desk. She was in Hecate's office building.
"Hey, Atty, Hecate's just in her office." She smiled at him. A little burning feeling appeared in Rose's heart, but Atticus nodded and walked her to a door.
"You're applying to be Hecate's assistant," He told her. "You won't get any special treatment from me, but I have a feeling she likes you." He smiled and kissed her forehead. "Goodluck." He pushed open the door and she walked through.
Hecate sat expectantly and happily at her desk.
"Welcome, Rosalind!" She gestured for her to take a seat, and as she did so, Hecate opened some files on her desk. "So, the main things I would ask of you to help me with, is taking care of the many dogs down here."
"Dogs?" She wondered.
"Yes, well, I should be more specific." She cleared her throat. "Cerberus."
Rosalind thought back to the huge three headed dog, the one that could fuel an ocean with its slobber. The one Thanatos threatened to feed souls to.
"Oh okay, what does that entail?" She tried to remain calm, maybe it wasn't hard.
"I'd have to first introduce you to him, see if you two get on well. He's very selective about those he trusts." She stood up. "But I have a feeling, you're going to be great with him."
