"Argh... I need to stretch my wings today." You groaned awake in the same spot you fell asleep yesterday. Alastor was gone along with the other crew members. The sun was just barely shining over Pentagram City, meaning it was a little past sunrise. You rubbed your aching back from sleeping all night here. Back in the human world, you often camped in trees to rest for the night. No one would really bother you up there, so it was a nice pick; minus the stiff muscles next morning.

A soft, blue light flashed through your pocket. You got a message from Lucifer saying he needed you at the palace by 08:00. You had roughly two hours to fix up the hotel before then, so you got to work after doing a few stretches. You hopped off the branch and exited the garden. You washed the floors and dusted the tables while keeping the noise to a minimum. Your friends slept soundlessly through your maid duties. You would leave the rest of the room cleanings up to Niffty since you already completed the entire first floor and the hallways of the upper levels.

Charlie awoke groggily to you setting the dinner table for everyone. "Good morning (y/n)." She shuffled closer to you in her fluffy bunny slippers, still in her pink pajamas containing heart patterns.

"Good morning Charlie. I have some business to attend to this morning so I'm prepping breakfast for everyone early." You handed her a cup of sweetened coffee that she happily sipped on. "I already cleaned down here, tell Niffty that all she needs to clean is the insides of the remaining rooms above."

Charlie acknowledge the request through her gulps. She followed you into the kitchen as you whipped up waffle batter in a mixing bowl. "The garden came out better than I expected. You and Alastor really hit the jackpot with those flowers."

"Yeah, he kept his word alright. He guided me in and out of that creepy forest."

Charlie started to mindlessly play with your tail as you worked. Poking and floofing it all over the place. "That's good to hear. Vaggie was ready to set up a search party for you if you didn't get back by the end of the day." She chuckled at the thought of Vaggie speeding down the streets with pitchforks looking for you. "I was thinking the Garden would be a nice hangout spot for residents too. We should add picnic tables and beanie chairs that go with the flow of the stone path."

You hummed in agreement while mixing an egg-vegetable mix for omelettes. "Oh, that sounds lovely. You know what would be really appealing to the eye?"

You both pointed at each other simultaneously stating the idea, "lanterns!"

Charlie continued on your thought, "Oooo that would look really nice at night. They should be orange ones; the glowing color is softer on the eyes." Her enthusiasm died down, along with the smile on her face.

"Something wrong Charlie?"

She sighed, resting her chin in her hand. "This project was really expensive, I already used up most of my funds. I do have emergency ones stored away, but that's specifically for dooms-day kind of things."

You turned off the burners and neatly stacked the waffles and omelettes on a plate. "What if I helped pay for it?"

Charlie turned to you shocked. "What? I appreciate the generosity -you have no idea how happy that makes me- but I possibly couldn't accept that. Besides, where would you even get the money?"

"I work a lot of jobs outside this one, so within a week I could rack up a good amount of pay. Think of it as a sponsorship."

Charlie stared into her coffee mug, gazing at her reflection. She seemed to be contemplating something. "(Y/n), why are you so nice to me? Is it because I'm the princess? Is it because I seem so helpless to everyone? Because I'm really a failure like my father said? Is it..."
