:Seras:
I was bored, and really wanting to find something to do. I was told by Master that I should read more, so I went over to the bookshelf to the left of the door, and pulled out a random book, I didn't really think to hard on the subject matter, only to have it be a switch, and a hidden compartment in the bookshelf popped open, revealing a old looking journal with a strange symbol on it. I take it out, letting go of the other book, only to have the hatch close shut. I open the newfound journal, and noticed the year was 1897. It was old, and as I sat down to read it, I noticed it was one of Professor Van Helsing's journals, and it discussed Master.
I was about 15 or so pages in, when it was violently ripped from my hands by my furious Master.
" What the hell do you think you are reading?!"
" I found it and you said to read when I get bored, so I did!"
" This book was supposed to remain hidden until the end of time! How did you find it?!"
" What is it?"
" It's none of your concern-"
" But it is of mine, servant. Give it here."
Master looked scared, but did as requested. It surprised me to see him scared, but it was so subtle and the only reason I felt it was because of our bond. Sir Integra had appeared as suddenly as Master, but I can't help but feel responsible for upsetting Master. Sir read the journal for a small bit, before a question crossed her face.
" Servant, who are the British Men Of Letters?"
Master sagged in defeat, sitting down on the couch while taking up as much space as possible, taking his hat and glasses off, his lethargic pose made you feel how much he hated this topic. He pinched the top of his nose between his eyes and looked to be fighting something before speaking.
" The British Men Of Letters is a secret sect of the British government created by John Seward, Quincey Morris, Arthur Holmwood, Mina Harker, Abraham Van Helsing, and Luke Winchester. Luke was a younger member who was learning from Abraham as an assistant of sorts and was the last of the legacy that is the Men Of Letters, having been dispatched by Abraham after my imprisonment by the Letter Men. He was ordered to go and start a new one over in the new world, or as it is known now as America. Last I knew his bloodline was the only thing keeping the legacy going."
" Was Hellsing a cover for the order?"
" Yes. The basement used to be their meeting place. Once I was imprisoned and experimented on, Mina taking great pleasure in my pain, the family of Hellsing kept it alive until Arthur's unfortunate passing. I was ordered by Arthur to never tell you of the order until you were old enough. You are well into your 30's. I think you are old enough to know by now."
" Do you know where in America it is?"
" Kansas. That's all I know. It won't be hard to find, I assure you. It's a bunker in a hill."
" Good, you two get prepped, you are taking me there so I can learn more."
:Sir Integra:
Alucard gave an eye roll as he vanished through the floor, and Seras quickly followed him. I took the journal with me, and noted it was a step by step guide to destroy Alucard should he ever get free somehow. I got to my office and tucked it away in my desk, and answered the phone call that was on hold, only to find it was Maxwell.
" Sir Integra, you were gone for a while, I hope you are all right?"
He posed it as a question, and I had to smile. While yes, he got on my nerves, he did mean well for the most part.
" I'm fine, I'm actually going to be out of England for a little vacation across the pond. Change of scenery and see the sights."
" Oh! I thought you hated leaving Hellsing?"
" I do, but I do need to take a break. I'm 36, Maxwell, I need to live while I can."
" If you would like, I can send Anderson to provide you with security. I know your vampires will be with you, but I'd like to-"
" Make sure my protestant nature doesn't corrupt your blind American masses?"
" I wouldn't say that, but sure, if it helps you sleep at night. I was going to say that the monsters over there are a different breed, and I know Anderson is trained for any and all situations. I know we don't always get along, but I wouldn't find it fair sportsmanship to have you die in America all because your vampires were ill-prepared."
" If you insist, but I can't guarantee that him and Alucard will play nice. It's already a struggle to get them to play nice during meetings."
" Hope for the best?"
" Expect for the worst, I know."
" When do you set out?"
" Tonight."
" I can have Anderson meet you at the Boston airport, where from there he is on your dime if you choose to travel farther inland."
" Actually, have him land in Kansas."
" I'll have him meet you there. I'll have to have him plane hop come Boston, but it's fine. Have a safe flight."
" Thank you, Maxwell. Have a good rest of your evening."
" You as well."
I hung up the phone knowing full well why Anderson was attached to my hip like this. Maxwell is a nosy man, and he loves to stick his nose where it doesn't belong. I go to my room, and start to pack. Walter came in, and I had told him to set up a private plane to land in Kansas. He said the flight was ready to land in Witchita, Kansas, all I needed to do was go and board. Walter chose to stay and watch the manor while I was gone. I've never been to America, but I was so excited to learn more of my legacy, I didn't care. I saw Alucard already in the armored escort truck, as was Seras, but she could be heard from inside her coffin. Alucard was dressed like a modern gentleman in a black and red suit, and I was in a more casual white shirt with a pencil skirt, as Walter had called it. It was summer, and that apparently meant warm and sunny.
" Are you ready, Master? It's a long way from Hellsing."
" I've never been so far away from home, but it will be fine. By the way, Anderson is meeting us in Witchita, so please, play nice."
" Why is he involved?"
I heard the protective bark in his words, and gave Alucard a soft smile to soothe his worries.
" Maxwell is a nosy guy, you know this. If it means he keeps quiet while I'm gone, I'll take it."
With an eye roll from my servant, we loaded into the truck, and off I was to Witchita, Kansas.
