: Hellsing Estate-London, England-One year later:
: Vlad:
It's been a year since the month long excursion to the states, and it's been a year since I became human once more. I had to have my old guns retired, now sitting in a glass framed case in Sir Integra's and Sir Charlie's Office. Charlie became a knight after saving the Queen from a poisoning by Iscariot, and was promptly knighted and given high medals for her service in Hellsing. Charlie and Integra also got married by the Queen herself, and are both the cutest and only openly gay couple on the round table. Charlie trains all the troops around cyber security and cyber warfare, and I became their head of soldier training and personal security when they go out and about for normal things. Even though I was now human, I was still the best agent at Hellsing.
Sam and Alex got married a few months after we left, and due to Iscariot being dead afraid of what Alex can do, they placed him under freelance mercenary, and gave him total American amnesty, meaning he'd never get deported. He apparently loved working on jobs in the states, and was happy he went with his heart and gut about leaving, even though he still went to church like an idiot. He apparently now had the same tattoo that Dean and Sam have, and is considered by Dean as a much less sappy version of his baby brother, and twice as tough. The four of them love it in the bunker, and I was so happy to hear that Seras singlehandedly brought all American vampires to their knees and made even Carmilla and Elizabet Balthory know she was the True Queen. I knew Sam and Alex wanted to adopt, and I could understand. I knew Charlie wanted to, but was scared of bringing it up to Integra.
We were currently going to explore an area claimed to have been overtaken by vampires. I was now really good with a sniper rifle, and my pistol was a smaller, much more manageable version of the Jackal, affectionately called Scarab. My sniper rifle was a custom Barrett M107, one of the best on the market. I called her my Shadow, since I went everywhere with her.
Charlie and I arrive, along with a small squad of soldiers, only to find the place empty, but I knew better.
" Sir, you'll need to go with troop A to the back, I'll set up a nest and see what I can find in my scope first before having you burst in."
" Sounds good, Batsy."
I chuckle at the new nickname she's given me, so much so, all the soldiers call me it now. I was heavily debating on getting a tattoo of a swarm of bats over a blood moon with one bat wearing a crown. It was Charlie's idea, and while it looked good on a computer program she used, I doubt it would translate good on my skin. I was no longer pale, but now held my natural Romani tan, and most of the male soldiers called me pretty boy for it. Integra's told them to stop, and that just because my teeth were no longer fanged, that didn't mean I wasn't still a menace. I set up on a hill a good 1000 yards from the abandoned house, and looked through the scope and found seven vampires, a small coven, all worshiping an old ass, very crudely carved statue of me. I rolled my eyes heavily, and pushed the talk button on my headset.
" Charlie, go light 'em up, firecracker. Seven of them are around a shrine. Seems they think I'll come back from the metaphorical dead."
" Well, whichever one you think is the strongest, pop 'em like a zit for me."
" You got it, boss."
I line up my shot, and inhale a breath, firing directly through the back of the head in the third eye. The remaining six I dropped like flies as well, leaving the ghouls for Charlie. I loved the bark Shadow had, and the custom .50 BMG cartridges were all silver and made with holy oil. I pack up and make my way back, noting how Charlie was sucking on a after missions cherry lollipop. She hated how Integra smoked, and was encouraging her to suck on hard candy instead, to no avail. I light up a smoke, only to get glares.
" Mine are completely herbal, so you can metaphorically bite me, damn it."
" Still bad for you-are you smoking weed?"
I give a small chuckle. " I said they were herbal, I wasn't specific of the kind of herb it was, and for the record, it also has Romanian sage, clove, and chamomile mixed in."
" You really are a pain in the ass, you know that, Batsy?"
" I do, Firecracker, but hey, it's why you love me."
She laughs, and as we drive back, I notice a red dot right on Charlie. I push her down, and cover her.
" Get down!"
I felt the bullet hit my shoulder, but I knew it was only muscle and tissue damage. I look up to see it was Iscariot's newest Regenerator, the German Long-shot, Heinkel Wolfe. The driver went faster, and we knew not to engage. Keeping Charlie safe was the main priority.
" Drive! Soldier's, do not engage! Just drive back! We will let Integra deal with this!"
We got back to Hellsing in record time, and once we were there, I was forced to the Medical Bay. As the doc dug out the slug, Charlie and Integra were talking.
" Vlad saw it before I did, and good thing too. Thank's Vlad, for having my back."
" It's my job to protect Hellsing and it's heads of Estate with my life as a humble soldier of the Organization. I was just doing my job, Sir Charlene, think nothing of it."
She hated her full title of Sir Charlene Bradbury-Hellsing, but I knew it was the quickest way to get her to stop stressing.
" This is a blatant show of treaty breaking and a sign of war."
" I think we need to call in some American muscle to take care of some over-glorified cultists. What do you think, babe?"
" I couldn't agree more. General Vlad Dracul, when you are up to it, you can call them and have them come overseas."
" Yes, Sir's. Will do."
