Cognizance (Sequel to After Allegiant) (Divergent Fanfic)

Chapter 2: BAM

Tobias' POV

I push one gun into my boot and hold the other one in my right hand. I aim for Xavier's arm.

I turn away.

BAM!

"YAHHHHHHH!" Xavier yells.

I shoot his other arm while he is still in pain.

"YAHHHHHHH!" he yells again.

The men grab their guns and prepare to position themselves.

Tris takes a knife and throws it into another mans legs. Once he falls, Tris pulls the knife through both of his legs and repositions. Uriah takes his gun and shoots two men in the head, and they fall.

Christina shoots in the direction of the men several times. Another falls.

All five of our guards have fallen. I head for the staircase.

The staircase is too steep. I wait and find Tris' hand. She climbs up the stairs on the outside. If she trips, she will fall and injure herself, possibly break her neck and die. I begin thinking of a poem I heard in school to distract myself from the height.

Two boys were climbing a tree
When one fell down
The other stood tall
Through bawl and all
But didn't know how to get down
The one who fell
Started to yell
But nobody heard his screams
The other beamed
But became frightened too quickly
Because no one helped they both became sickly
Now they're dead

Once we reach the top of the staircase, I hear a gunshot.

I turn around.

Uriah lies unconscious on the ground. Christina begins to tear up then turn blood red. She takes her gun and shoots in every direction.

"Get Christina," I say sternly to Tris. She grabs Christina by the waist and whispers into her ear. I bend down and check Uriah's pulse.

Lub, Dub. Lub, Dub.

"He's alive."

I pick him up and carry him. I hear another gunshot. I look in Tris' direction.

"I'm fine," she says as she gets up. She pulls Christina along with her. We run towards the truck. We reach the truck within ten minutes. Tris starts the car and speeds down the highway.

"At least, Uriah is alive," I say after a long moment of silence.

Christina nods silently.

"Where are we going?" she asks.

"I don't know," Tris answers.

I come up with a solution: "If we want Uriah to live, we are going to have to go back. To the Bureau."
