Harry

Holy shit! Like holy shit! I'm not ok! Sirius Balck... as in Voldemort's loyal servant who just escaped from Azkaban... not only rated my parents out to Voldemort, but he was also my godfather!

After I caught up to Ron and Hermione we went to the Three Broomsticks and I may of listened in on Professor McGonagall's conversation.

Right now I'm headed back to the castle and trying to figure out how I'm going to tell Percy. Like obviously he has to know, but how do I tell him???

Percy isn't in the common room when we get back, so I figure he's still just like walking around. He seemed off this morning, and I had just figured he was bummed he couldn't go to Hogsmeade. But even when I told him we could go he still seemed off. I hope he's ok.

After a few minutes of waiting Percy came in. He looked around and when he saw us sitting in our usual spots headed straight for us. He had a weird expression, something was definitely wrong.

"Hey guys," he greeted as he sat down. "How was it?"

"It was pretty good," Hermione says, "cold."

Percy nodded but I could tell her wasn't really listening.

"What did you do today?" I asked my twin.

"I walked around for a while then talked to Remus," he looked distracted, something happened in that conversation.

"How is he?" Hermione asked. Percy nodded.

"Fine"

Ron kicked me, and looked at me telling me to hurry up.

"Percy there is something I need to tell you," I said quickly.

"Yeah me too," he said much slower. "You first."

"Black..." his eyes widen, "he was our godfather."

Percy laughed slightly. Not a oh that's funny laugh a nervous laugh.

"Why are you laughing? Why's he laughing???" Ron said

"I know this is gonna sound crazy... but that's what in was gonna tell you." He said in a amazed tone.

"Thats..." I started.

"Almost impossible!" Hermione finished.

"I know. I had been talking to Remus and said that I just felt off today and he said he had an idea why. Mom died on Halloween night. Then he told me." He explained.

"I didn't know that," I said quietly.

"Me neither," he said in an equally quiet voice.

We both paused before he continued, "then he explained how our parents were choosing a secrete keeper to keep the location of their house unknown and they chose Sirius. Apparently he was best friends with Dad at Hogwarts and so when they had us he was named your godfather and Remus was mine. Mom and Dad has complete faith in him." Percy explained in hushed tones.

"That's mental!" Ron says.

"How could he betray them like that?" Harry asked.

"I don't know. Remus sounded like insulted when he was telling me. Like he still couldn't believe it."

"Does anyone else find it weird that Lupin has already missed two classes?" Hermione asked. "Like two years and I don't know if a teacher has ever missed a class and then Lupin misses 2 in 2 months!"

Not only did Remus miss class twice, Snape was our sub both times! It was horrible and he like changed topics and jumped to the complete opposite side of the book.

"Do you think he's hiding something?" Ron asked.

"He seemed genuine when I was talking to him," Percy said.

"Then why is he missing so much class?" I asked. Hermione bit her lip, clear she was thinking. I bet she had a good idea but wasn't ready to share yet.

After a while we all head down to the great hall to forget about today's troubles with an amazing feast

Percy

As we walked back to the common room after the feast the path was blocked by a large crowd of students.

"Let me through!" Percival shouted and he tried to shove his way through the crowd of people. "Let me through! I'm head boy!"

Percival finally made it through to the front of the crowd and was clearly shocked by whatever he saw. "Someone get the headmaster down here immediately!"

"What's going on?" Ginny who had just joined us asked.

"Don't know," I tell her, "nothing good."

A moment later Dumbledore was sweeping toward the portrait and we all squeezed together to let him through. As people shifted back over the four of us moved in closer trying to figure out what was going on.

"Oh my-" hermione exclaimed as he grabbed Harry's arm. I looked up to see the Fat Lady completely gone, and her painting destroyed. The painting had been slashed and cut so violently that strips littered the floor, wide chunks having been ripped off.

"We need to find her," Dumbledore said to McGonagall Lupin and Snape who had just arrived. "Professor McGonagall please go to Mr Filch and tell him we need every paining the the castle searched until we find her."

"You'll be lucky" Peeves the poltergeist who I had seen around the castle said.

"What do you mean peeves?" Dumbledore asked.

"Ashamed, Your Headship, sir. Doesn't want to be seen. She's a horrible mess. Saw her running through the landscape up on the fourth floor, sir, dodging between the trees. Crying something dreadful," he said happily. "Poor thing," he added, unconvincingly.

"Did she say who did it?" Lupin asked.

"Oh yes," peeves said slowly, "He got very angry when she wouldn't let him in, you see." Peeves flipped over, and grinned at Dumbledore from between his own legs "Nasty temper he's got, that Sirius Black''

Well shit.

Dumbledore sent us all to the great hall, and we were soon joined by the Ravenclaws, Hufflepuffs and Slytherins. All who looked very confused by what's going on.

"The teachers and I need to conduct a thorough search of the castle," Professor Dumbledore told them as Professors McGonagall and Flitwick closed all doors into the Hall. "I'm afraid that, for your own safety, you will have to spend the night here. I want the Prefects to stand guard over the entrances to the Hall and I am leaving the Head Boy and Girl in charge."

"Any disturbance should be reported to me immediately,' he added to Percy, who was looking immensely proud and important. "Send word with one of the ghosts.'

Professor Dumbledore paused, about to the leave the Hall, and said, "Oh, yes, you'll be needing ..." with a wave of his wand all of the tables vanished to be replaced by hundreds of squishy purple sleeping bags.

After a few minutes of chaos we all found spots and settled down some, but no one was asleep.

"It's lucky we were at the feast," Ron said, "he probably had no clue that it was Halloween or else he would of come at a different time."

"I don't know seems like Halloween would be a day worth remembering for him." I said, "it is when everything went wrong for them."

"If he knew it was Halloween why would he of broke in when no one was in the dorms?" Hermione questions.

"Maybe he didn't actually want us," I said.

"Or maybe he just got the day wrong," Harry said. "It's been 12 years, probably easy to loose track of the days."

What he said made sense but something told me it wasn't right. I felt like Black knew exactly what day it is and he knew we wouldn't be in the dorm when he broke in. But what was he after?
