Watching Renesmee grow at an unprecedented rate and growing close to her helped Lucy cope with her own loss in many ways. It was hard, harder then she thought it would be to overcome her grief of losing her own child and the resentment she felt at first when she saw Bella and Edward take care of their own.
Paul was a big help as well, keeping them both occupied doing a bunch of different things, between window shopping or looking at homes on the reservation. It kept both of them on track and off of their grief, though they spent many a night in either her room or his, talking about everything they were feeling and supporting each other.
"Hey little wolf." Paul's voice filled the area of the house as he called out from the front door, Charlie having gone over to visit with Bella and Renesmee.
"Upstairs!" She called back finishing putting her hair up into a messy bun.
"There you are." He smiled, wrapping an arm around her waist gently, mindful of still her healing marks from Sam. "You look beautiful." He kissed her cheek as she giggled, hitting his arm playfully.
"You're such a liar." She smirked, turning around in his grip and hugging him. "I've missed you." She breathed him in, her anxiety creeping away now that he was here.
"I missed you too, are you ready?" He pulled back a bit to see she was wearing her usual black leggings paired with one of his many hoodies she managed to commandeer from him with just her puppy dog eyes.
"Yeah, just need to put some shoes on and then we can go." The pair separated and headed downstairs where she slipped into her combat boots before tying them up. "Is the agent going to meet us there?" She questioned, her memory blanking on what the real estate agent had told them yesterday when they had called to set up the walkthrough of one of the last houses for sale on the reservation.
"Yeah, at least that's what she said anyway." He opened the passenger side door for her, helping her in the moment her face scrunched up from the odd angle her body was turned as she tried to talk with him. "You need to be more careful baby." He murmured. "Can't have you ripping your stitches again." She rolled her eyes and waved him off as he kissed her temple before closing the door and getting in himself.
"Has anyone heard from Sam?" They had found him up in Canada, wondering the wilderness, and had pleaded for him to come home. At least for Emily, but after expressing his extreme guilt for how he had acted that night and what he had done. He deemed it necessary to stay away for a while longer, it being almost two months ago now that she thought about it.
"Not yet, but Embry and Quil are planning on running up to where he is and seeing what's going on. With him being so far away and away from the Rez his link with us isn't as strong as it should be." She nodded watching the trees pass by as they headed for what could possibly be their new home. The pictures online that Paul had shown her didn't do it any justice, it was a one story on a lot of land that would let them expand if necessary later on down the road. (Pictures will be at the end of this chapter.)
"You guys made it!" The real estate agent, Marcy, called out to them as she stood on the front porch. "I hope you found it okay?"
"Oh yeah," Paul smirked. "I grew up on the Rez so it's easy to navigate." She led them inside giving them the tour of the home before allowing them to venture around themselves. Lucy wondered off on her own, standing in the kitchen as Paul headed outside to the back porch to look at the backyard/ woods that would be theirs if they decided to go forward. She took her time walking through the house, picturing them living here and if it would fit them.
"Whatcha thinking about?" Paul asked making her jump as he wrapped his arms around her from behind.
"Jesus Christ." She mumbled, holding her hand to her chest as she tried to slow her heart down. "Don't do that." She chuckled.
