Kacy breathed in the fresh air all around her.
So this is what it is like to live, she thought, smiling.
The world was...big. Bigger than Kacy had imagined. It amazed her. She was happy.
Kacy didn't feel her choice to run away was a bad decision. At all.
She walked through the forest. Her hand was soaked with blood from her cut hand, but at the moment, it wasn't a priority to Kacy. The forest was.
Once she ran out of breath, she sat down on a log and scanned her surroundings. There all she saw were trees and a...light?
Kacy grew curious and started walking towards the light.
"What is it?" she whispered, staring at the lights. She pushed the bushes apart and started sprinting.
What she saw as she approached the lights was amazing. Buildings. Big ones. They reached the sky. Kacy's eyes glistened in the sun. She beamed and laughed loudly.
What is this? she thought, laughing.
These buildings were nothing like Briggs Manor. They weren't surrounded by trees. They weren't wide. They were tall, out in the open. She ran closer to one of the buildings. Kacy brushed her fingers against it.
She saw...a boy. Kacy gasped and eyed him carefully.
"Wow...wow!" she whispered excitedly. She jumped up and down in her spot as she watched people walk through the street. She was hyperventilating. Her breathing was heavy.
Kacy took a deep breath and made her way through a alley. It was dark, and some teenage boys were playing cards in a corner. She walked right past them and peeked out of the alley from behind a grabage can. She nervously started walking on the sidewalk. She took a deep breath every time she took a step.
This is so cool! she thought. Kacy spotted a gang of girls looking her age. She walked over to say hi.
Briggs Manor...
Mr. Briggs was furious. This couldn't be happening. Kacy had escaped. He would have to give Edna a good talking to.
Edna's plan had failed. That means he would have to catch Kacy, think up a new plan, and apply the plan.
Mr. Briggs banged on Edna's door.
"Edna!" he shouted. "Open up!"
Edna scurried to the door and opened it to a red faced Mr. Briggs
"Oh, Mr. Briggs-" started Edna.
"Kacy. Escaped," murmured Mr. Briggs, his voice low and breathing heavily.
"What?" screamed Edna. Now she wouldn't be released.
"Its your fault!" shouted Mr. Briggs. "Now, call the police! Tell the, if they send all there men out they'll get part of the experiment!"
"But-" said Edna, thinking of excuses.
"Now!" shouted Mr. Briggs, pushing Edna down the hall. "Now."
Edna muttered things to hereself. Her life was ruined, all because of Kacy.
Kacy. Now, Edna didn't feel bad for her. She'd like her to die.
No, thought Edna, changing her mind. If she died, I'd never be released.
Once she was down the stairs and in the Maid's private room, she pcked up the phone and pushed the buttons down that would call the police office.
"Hello?" she said in to the phone, sitting on a table and running her fingers through a pink streak in her hair. "Mr. Briggs Manor here. We need your help locating a child."
"Description?" said a gruff man voice through the phone.
"Female. Tall, 5'6-ish. Wavy blond hair. Green eyes," said Edna, trying to remember each of Kacy's distinct features. "Small scar under right eye, star tatoo on left hand."
"Thanks, I'll send some men-" Edna interrupted the voice.
"Also, send all your men please," she said sweetly, twirling her hair in her fingers.
"What?" said the voice, shocked.
"Just do it," said Edna. "They'll be payment. Because, as you know, Mr. Briggs is rich."
"Al-alright," said the voice. Them he hang up.
