I was nervous back in my apartment with Tyler because it was just us. And my heart was all crazy as I got 2 glasses of water and brought them out to the patio where I'd led Tyler. He was sitting on the porch in one of my bean bag chairs looking out towards the view of the city, but when I opened the door and went out, his head turned in my direction. I set the glasses of water down on my small table and sat in the beanbag chair opposite him. He looked at me with an expectant smile on his face and I knew I brought him here so I could explain myself, but... I didn't even know how to begin explaining my reasons for hiding from him.

"I..." I tried to start explaining myself and immediately stopped. I sighed and looked down. Honestly, thinking was so hard.

"Hey," Tyler said softly, and I looked back up at him. His eyes were... so bright despite the fact that it was pretty dark out. But the way he looked at me... I could just tell he was being so real. His smile was soft and I was more used to seeing him smirk. From our time together, he'd been full of smirks. But now, Tyler smiled at me and it made my heart skip a beat and melt a little like butter in a pan on the stove. I needed to remember this calmer feeling inside of me and let go of the anxiety brought on by the fact that Tyler was sitting right here in front of me.

"I already told you. You don't have to be good at this," Tyler said. "I'm not that fucking good at it myself. I've been all over the place recently. I've been a mess. So you don't even have to be remotely put-together."

"That... makes me feel better," I admitted, and gave him a hesitant smile. "So... You want to know why I was ignoring you."

"Ah, so you were ignoring me on purpose," Tyler teased and I flushed hot red. He raised his eyebrows and sat up, noticing my obvious state of embarrassment. "Oh Jesus, I'm just messing with you."

Tyler reached forward and was reluctant, but his hand brushed mine for a second before he pulled away. That was enough contact to send butterflies through my body.

"I guess I was just worried to see you again."

Tyler furrowed his eyebrows. "Why? Am I that scary?"

I sat up. "No, you're not scary at all! I mean, you're really intimidating. Because you're all... Cool. And hot... and stuff."

Tyler smirked. Yes, that familiar smirk that just made the butterfly feeling in my stomach just a little more crazy. I needed to really get a grip on those damn butterflies.

"You think I'm cool and hot and stuff?"

"Yes," I admitted. "Very."

Tyler grinned. "That shouldn't intimidate you."

"Why not?"

"Because you're cool and hot and stuff, too," Tyler said and I raised my eyebrows. He chuckled at my shocked reaction. "And yes, I'm serious. When I first ran into you, I already thought you were cool. And obviously you're hot as fuck and you've gotta know that. You're like... the main character in a cliche rom-com."
