When I open my eyes again, I'm greeted with a harsh light in my face. I blink a few times to clear my vision, and a room comes into sight. A sterile white hospital room, with my parents sitting in chairs next to my bed.

"Hey there little miss." Dad murmurs.

"Sophie, oh my god." Mom says, her eyes welling up with tears. The sight of her crying is rare, and it breaks my heart to see.

"Hi." I whisper.

"What happened baby?" Mom asks.

"I had a panic attack in gym." I mumble. "And I passed out I guess."

"Oh sweetheart." Dad says with dismay.

"The doctor said you were dehydrated and weren't properly nourished." Mom continues with worry. "I know high school is hard and body image is a big thing for you at this age, but you don't have to star-"

I stop her before she can finish. "I'm not starving myself. I just haven't been eating well lately. I'm sorry."

"What's the matter then, Soph?" Dad questions. "You can tell us anything."

"Can I wait until we go home to talk about it? I don't think this is the best place." I ask.

"Of course." Mom assures me. "You can go home now, if you'd like."

"I'd like that." I reply.

Mom helps me dress and then I'm permitted to leave. Mom stays by my side until I'm in the car, giving me concerned looks the whole while. When I've been settled in the backseat, and I'm half asleep, I hear her murmuring to Dad.

"Ches, she hasn't been herself lately. I don't know how to help her." She says with a sob.

"Gracie, she's okay." Dad reassures her. "Little miss is a fighter."
