The Love of Blood and Magic

Jeno walked down the hallway to the dining hall and into the courtyard of the school. He was on his break between potions and herbology. even though he was a vampire and preferred the dark, he liked studying in the courtyard where there was lots of fresh air. The dining hall as stuffy and always crowded so being there didn't help jeno think. Jeno had sat down in the shade of a large oak when he smelled some flowery scent by him. he looked up from his text book he had just gotten out and saw the pink haired elf from his herbology class. jeno scowled and tried to ignore the elf, whos name was jaemin. jeno hated to admit it but jaemin was pretty, even if jeno hated him. 

"What have i told you about scowling," jaemin said smiling at jeno making jeno scowl even more. 

"gosh why does this stupid elf have to bother me? can't i just study in peace?" jeno thought. out loud he said "Can you go the fuck away i'm trying to study?"  

"No need to be rude, gosh," jaemin said then went over to his friends. jeno watched jaemin and his friends over his text book. They were whispering about something and one of his friends, a short fairy with sandy hair looked over at jeno then whispered something to jaemin who looked back at jeno and winked and smiled.  jeno stopped watching them after that and went back to studying. 

sometime later the ball rang signaling that an hour had passed. jeno packed his books up and left for the herbology classroom hoping jaemin hadn't noticed him. but just his luck, he soon smelled a flowery scent next to him. he sighed and ignored jaemin. he also tried to ignore this feeling in his stomach. the feeling was like he had butterflies tumbling around in there. Jeno and jaemin arrived at the herbology classroom and took their seats. jeno had taken a seat at the back of the classroom to hopefully stay unnoticed by their teacher. Jaemins seat was closer towards the front and he was surrounded by friends. jenos only friend in this class was a demon named Renjun. the one from potions. Jeno had to admit, renjun was cute and jeno would be lying if he said he didn't have feelings for renjun. 

Jeno often caught renjun staring at him in potions and in herbology. And often at meals he could feel renjuns eyes on him. The herbology lesson passed quickly enough, the teacher taught them how to care for a moon jupiter plant. They each got their own plant to keep in the classroom and take care of for the next couple of weeks. After the lesson was over Jeno approached renjun and said "would you like to hangout for something this week end." 

"Really?" renjun asked, surprised "of course jeno!" 

Renjun and jeno left the classroom together planing where and when they would hangout. They didn't realize that someone overheard their entire conversation. That someone was a very sad Na Jaemin. Jaemin stood there in shock for a moment then looked around the classroom to find it empty. he walked out with a sigh trying to hold back tears. He liked jeno, but apparently jeno did not return the feeling. 

Jaemin had seen the way jeno looked at Renjun with heart-eyes. he walked to the elves dorm tower and sat on his bed. Jaemin ran his fingers through his hair and choked back a sob. a tear slowly made its way down his cheek and plopped onto jaemins pants, it sat there for a moment shimmering then sank into the fabric creating a wet circle on his pant leg. more tears fells and jaemin did nothing to stop them. "Why does your shitty life have to be like this?"  jaemin thought sadly. A little while later, he came down from the dorm room and walked to the dining hall for dinner. He saw Jeno and his friends, plus renjun goofing around at a table. Jeno had his arm around renjuns waist and renjun had his head on jenos shoulder. 

"What's wrong?" haechan asked coming up to jaemin. haechans gaze followed jaemins and his mouth formed an 'o' shape. 

Jaemin sighed sadly and walked to his usual table, haechan following him. Jaemin sat down with the rest of his friends and tried to focus on their conversations.
