The Proposal

Chapter 17

Noah's POV

I sit at my desk finishing signing all the papers Bella brought back to me as a knock comes at the door. "Come " I say as Mr. Lee strides in with his head held high. I quickly stand up buttoning my suit and coming around the desk to meet Mr. Lee and shake his hand.

"Mr. Lee it's great to see you. How are you today?"

"Noah call me Jacob. I'm great it's been a relaxing few weeks since you took over. The wife and I have done a bit of traveling. I also have it on good authority that my daughter has been doing a little living. Going on dates not working as much. You wouldn't happen to know the fella she has been seeing.

"Me ... no sir I have no clue who she has been dating. She does seem happy though when I see her" I say with a little smirk. I couldn't just say I'm dating her. I have no clue how he would react. If Bella hasn't told him I sure as shit not going to tell him.

"That's great that she is happy. I can hardly get her on the phone now adays. Ahh to be young and beautiful. Now lets get down to business and go over all you have done since taking over" he says clapping his hands together and sitting down in the sit. I start going over the contracts we signed and all the improvements we had implemented since he left. He nods and grins seeming to agree to everything I'm saying when a knock on the door interrupts us. Standing I walk to the door opening it and there Bella stands. She looks over my shoulder and grins big.

"Daddy" she exclaims as she rushes past me and flings her arms around his neck. "I've missed you and mom. Where did you go on vacation? Did you have fun? Did you bring me anything?"

Jacob laughs pulling her into a giant hug. We missed you too. We went to a private island so no souvenirs this time. Yes we had a lot of fun reconnecting and relaxing. Now, enough about me, I hear you have been going on dates and not working as much."

Bella blushes and looks away from her father. She looks nervous, but she turns back to her father and smiles shyly.

"Yes I have been seeing a man. And I have been trying to have fun and not work as much like you said."

"When do I get to meet the luck man?"

"Not yet daddy. I don't want to scare him. Besides I want you and mom all to myself. How about we have dinner tonight and catch up?"

"OK sounds good, just let me finish up here with Noah and I'll stop by your office before I leave."

"OK daddy" she says standing up and kissing his cheek. Turning she looks at me and our eyes meet she has a pleading look in them. I nod an understanding and I see her body relax as she heads for the door.

"Ok lets finish up here" I say taking my seat. After about another 45 mins Jacob and I are finished. We both stand up as I walk with him to the door. He extends his hand for me to shake . I clasp my hand in his. "Listen why don't you come to dinner with us tonight. I'm sure Bella won't mind." I think about it for a minute . I wanted to have dinner with her already so why not.

"Sure if you think she won't mind."

"Good, now that's settled I'll see you at dinner." I watch as he walks to Bella's door thinking to myself. This is either a smart move or a really dumb one to eat with Bella's family. Probably a dumb one . I shake my head and close the door.
