Everyone turned around to look at me and I blushed rapidly. My mate had a slight amused expression which he was trying to cover up, most likely from the choice of words I used.
My mum's eyes glistened with relief hearing my voice and little Josh was beaming with a huge smile on his face. "Emily, we've come to take you home. I know he is your mate but I will not allow such a beast to be the mate of my daughter. He can't do anything with us here, reject him and come home with us dear." I was shocked and hurt that my father would want me to reject my own mate, second chance mates are rare and I know he knew that as well.

Alpha Tyler piped up " Emily, I'm more than happy to make you my Luna, I heard this useless excuse of an Alpha has been keeping you up in your room. If you were my Luna I'd be showing the whole world how beautiful you are." My mate growled ferociously " how dare you speak to her in that way, she is MINE, one more word out of your mouth boy and your father is going to need to have another child to be the heir of his pack." Alpha Tyler cowered away, he wasn't stupid enough to talk back to him. We heard a small squeak, I followed the sound to Josh's little mouth "Em..Emily, when we heard news you were missing I was so..s..so sad. I will fight anyone for you Emily," He scrambled out of my mum's arms and ran towards me, I scooped him up in my arms and gave him the biggest hug. What a little gentleman, trying to help the damsel in distress. I caught my mate's eye and I couldn't decipher the emotion his eyes were holding, it was adoration? He broke eye contact with me and continued his staring match with my father and the Alpha. I decided I was going to put a stop to all this ridicule, I was especially upset with my father's remarks.
"Dad with all due respect I want to stay here with him. He is my mate and whatever he has done in his past is  none of your business. I will not tolerate you insulting him Dad or our bond". Everyone including my mate was looking at me wide eyed, Dad took a minute to contemplate his words before speaking " very well Emily Rose, if being here is what you wish then there's nothing I can do a out it. But I do hope you know you have utterly disappointed your mother and I, I did not think that we raised you to be in a relationship with a killing beast."
A scoff was heard " You can speak your arrogant mind but I am happy that my daughter has found her mate. Son , I don't care about your history and your killings but as long as you feel the mate bond and treat my daughter with love and respect then you have my blessings." My mate looked down, I caught a little glimpse of guilt as his eyes fluttered down. My heart soared with love for my mother.
"It's your decision darling, you can stay with him or come home with us. He can't kill you, it will kill him if he does."
I looked around at my family on the other side of the border and looked at my mate and his pack members. He was avoiding my eyes ,his hands were shaking I knew deep down he did not want me to go. "I'm staying." My mate's eyes snapped up at me full of shock and disbelief. "Very well , then we will be on our way" my mother said dragging my family and pack away. I was so proud of her for standing up to my father and the alpha. Everyone slowly dispersed around us and eventually it was just me and him. I couldn't make eye contact with him so I just looked at the ground feigning interest in the grass. "My name is Alpha Onyx. And for you it's just Onyx." I looked up and saw he was already walking away. Onyx, I thought, a beautiful name.
