Underneath the Fleeting Clouds (Completed)

Chapter 10

"Hoy, Alliyah. Umamin ka nga. Anong meron sa inyo ni Elon nung Saturday?" That's the first thing MaRi asked me this Monday morning. I can feel that she's already anticipating some gossip because she's giving me her chismosa vibes but sorry to say, she won't get anything from me.

I sat on the chair beside her and took a little sip from my black coffee, "There's nothing between us, MaRi. We're just friends."

She gave me an unconvinced look, "Weh?"

I tried to stop myself from rolling my eyes. This is a common problem with people. You already gave and told them the truth, but still, they won't stop asking you until they get the answer and words they want to hear.

What does she want me to do? Spit lies just so I could satisfy her chismosa needs?

"Weh-weh your face, MaRi." Naiinis kong saad. "There's really nothing between Elon and I. And there'll be nothing more aside from us, being friends." That's the truth. And besides, I like someone else.

"Aww...Heartbreak girl?" She annoyingly asked once more.

"Why don't we cut off your tongue so you could shut up?" I calmly suggested. That would be a really great idea. Atleast, no more words from the annoying Marian Rivera.

Her eyes widened and she immediately covered her mouth with her hands when she realized what I just said,

"Grabe!"

"That's why you should just shut up and stop harvesting gossips around the area." I stood up from my seat and picked up my bag. "Let's go. Male-late pa tayo dahil sa pagiging chismosa mo."

We went to our first class and I was lucky that the day went by smoothly. I ate lunch with MaRi after my morning period and attended the afternoon classes without any worries.

"Alliyah, later sa bahay nila Elon, ah?" Zaniah reminded me at the end of our Thermodynamics class.

The club's planning to do a blog about our recent trip. It'll serve as our last project for this semester dahil malapit na ang finals and we all want to focus more on our studies especially now that the most of them are graduating.

I thanked her for reminding me before proceeding to my last period which is Fluids.

"I'll post the quizzes later at the school's website. You're given two weeks. Make sure to finish it on time because I won't be making any exemptions and special treatment." Prof. Diaz said before dismissing the class.

We all stood up without showing any interest on what he had said. It's just another bunch of activities that we need to add to our pile of school works. It's shitty and tiring but I know I have to do it in order to graduate.

With a heavy heart, I heaved out a deep sigh and went out of the room. I texted MaRi while walking that I'm already on the way and if they could wait for me for a little while. Kanina pa kasi silang dalawa ni Rommel sa parking ng school at ako na lang ang hinihintay para makapunta na kami sa bahay nila Elon.

"Alliyah, nakapunta ka na sa bahay nila Elon 'diba?" Tanong ni MaRi nang nasa kalagitnaan na kami ng biyahe. Kanina pa kami nakaalis sa school pero dahil may pinadaanan pa sandali si Zaniah sa bahay nila ay medyo ginabi na kami.

Ibinaba ko ang aking cellphone at marahang tumango, "Oo."

"Maganda ba?"

"Oo naman." I gave her a small smile. "You should wait and see it yourself. I think you'll appreciate it more because of your love for history."

The rest of our trip, MaRi was just talking about on how excited she is to see Mayor Noel's house. She even sang in glee when the guards opened the gate to let us in.
