"So...How did it go?"

Tree watches her with a sheepish grin on her face that instantly has Taylor rolling her eyes as she picks up her cup of coffee and takes a sip, mindlessly scrolling through her instagram feed as she does.

"I could ask you the same thing. Didn't you have that super important meeting to get to?" Taylor says stiffly, not really wanting to talk about her session with Karlie, but Tree waves her hand nonchalantly and scoots her chair closer to Taylor before she can even really protest.

"I'll tell you after, I asked first. Come on, tell me...What do you think about Karlie?" Tree watches her with a smirk, and Taylor simply raises her cup to her lips to give herself time to think of an answer. If Tree notices her tactics, she doesn't say anything, and Taylor simply lowers her cup slowly with a frown before she puts her phone down onto the table with a sign.

"She's...different." Taylor finally mumbles out, her cheeks immediately flushing when Tree laughs loudly and simply nods a few times in agreement.

"Yeah I've met her a few times waiting with Sara and that I agree with. She's very...quirky isn't the right word, it's more like-."

"Observant. Very, very observant." Taylor breathes out, licking her lips and reaching for one of the mini muffins on the table that Tree had bought them before her next words leave her mouth.

"I booked another appointment for tomorrow." She says quickly. Tree blinks once in surprise, but she grins widely and simply leans back in her chair, crossing her arms over her chest as she does.

"And you didn't even wanna go in the first place! see, I told you she's good!"

Taylor simply smiles and nods in response, and the rest of the coffee break is filled with Tree telling her about her meeting before Taylor pushes herself up and makes her way back into the big machine records building.

The truth is, she has no idea how to feel about her session with Karlie. it's been two days since that session and Taylor's still trying to wrap her mind around everything Karlie seemed to unpack about her while she's simultaneously trying to prepare herself for whatever is about to happen tomorrow when she attends her next appointment.

Was Karlie intriguing? God, yes. Was she intimidating and terrifying as hell? for sure. But something about her makes Taylor feel safe, and maybe it's because she's a therapist and it's her job to make her clients feel like they're in that kind of environment, but Taylor can't help but cherish it for what it was, because the truth is, she's never really felt that way before.

She can't talk to anyone about anything without fear of it getting out to the public at some point, even telling Tree how she felt on monday had been terrifying, but Tree understood and always tried to understand Taylor's feelings but it's not like she's a professional therapist.

Karlie, however, is, or well...appears to be. Taylor still wants to see proof of a phd of some sort.

Karlie is someone she can trust. And with the life she's led, the unfortunate truth for Taylor is that the number of people in that category are slim.

Work drags on, and when Taylor gets home, she can barely be bothered to cook anything proper, so she just shoves some packaged raw pasta into a pot of boiling water with a splash of oil and some salt before she heads out to the balcony for a cigarette.
