A/N: Here it is, what you've been waiting for....the beginning of Kaylor
————————————————————The days go by, and Taylor slowly, but surely, starts to get better.
It's a long week though...a long week of Taylor crying in Karlie's arms, or alone in her room, or even in the bathroom during a shower, her mind always wandering back to the fact that she's lost everything.
But the days go by, and she starts to move on.
And the only reason she does is because of Karlie.
The girl sticks by her side for the entire goddamn week, doesn't leave her for even a second, even when Taylor clings to her with desperate whines and whimpers of despair, and Taylor hates that she's allowed herself to be so goddamn weak in front of Karlie, but the taller girl says and does nothing but hold her and comfort her, and for that, Taylor is thankful.
Her mother and Joe had come by the next day after the incident to check on Taylor, and Joe had wanted to bring up selling the apartment, something that had immediately sent Taylor's heart spiraling into a panic attack, but Karlie had been the one to ask him to leave it for another day, and Taylor still can't believe that Karlie had picked up on her uneasiness and panic almost as soon as Taylor had felt it.
The connection between them has only been growing stronger, and Taylor feels like it's the one good thing to come out of all of this.
Well, that, and of course, her friends.
Ella, Abigail and Jack had come to visit her a couple of days after everything had happened, and even though they'd expressed complete and utter shock at Joe and Taylor announcing that they were no longer together, they had also been more than supportive when Taylor had told them the truth of why they were no longer together. Taylor had been so fucking scared that they'd drop her just like her boss, but instead, they had offered Taylor their undying support.
"You've been my best friend since childhood, Tay, i'm not leaving just because of that!" Abigail had exclaimed while Jack had chuckled and nodded in agreement.
"You're our girl, Taylor. we're with you through thick and thin."
Taylor had actually managed a smile for the first time in days when they'd told her that, and for the first time in a long time, she had hope.
Hope that she could maybe get through all of this.
After that day, Taylor had slowly but surely started to get a bit better. She went from barely eating and barely moving out of her bed except to use the bathroom, went from crying at all hours of the way to at least being able to move to the living room and watch a bit of tv sometimes while Karlie held her close.
Karlie, meanwhile, has just been...going through the motions, trying to adapt from doing her best to stay away from Taylor to suddenly spending almost every waking moment with her.
Karlie knew it was going to take time, and knows it's still going to take more time. It's only been a week and a half, she doesn't expect Taylor to spring back from losing so much so quickly. But she can't help but worry despite Taylor's clear signs of progress as the days have gone by.
Karlie had gone grocery shopping the other day when it came to her attention that they had been eating nothing but peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for three days straight, but as soon as she'd gotten back and Taylor had begun helping her put the groceries away, Taylor had come across a mug that said 'best sister' on it, a gift from Austin for her twentieth birthday, and had locked herself in her room and curled back under the covers once more, leaving Karlie to watch in despair as her body shook with sobs underneath the blankets for hours on end.
