REST

I continue to go to school as we usually do but this time it's strange because she's not here with me. I want to go to her house and check if she's fine, but when I ask her if I could she always stops me.

"Please don't bother. I am fine. Just send me notes on my Gmail so I won't be too left out. "

I can't force it. I respect her so much that I can't force it. This is making me anxious; it was weeks ago when I saw her and it was weeks ago when I learned about her being treated shit. I told my mom about it and she as well is shocked but she told me not to meddle because it's a family problem. That all I can do is to be with her if she needed me.

But that's the problem, she didn't need my help. She didn't even tell me any of those happens to her for years now.

When the bell rang, i quickly got out of the room and run to my car. For the whole day I couldn't listen to any lecture because i was contemplating whether to not go and just wait for her to tell me if I could or just ignore her and go check her. And the second win. As I was driving, I decided to bring her something in the way.

So, I bought her favorite. The munchkins. I was really nervous that I can't stop tapping my fingers on the steering wheel. I hope she won't get mad.

I immediately stop the car a few houses away from her. I decided to just walk my way to her home so that she won't notice me. As I am nearing her home, I slowed down my track. What's happening? There are people shouting and screaming. And it comes from her home. My heart starts to beat so fast and loud when I heard her scream. I run fast and quickly kick the door of her home, no, this isn't home for her, this is just her house not home, I thought. Because when i got inside, it's maddening to see her own mom beating her so bad.

I grab her mom's hand as it is about to hit her again. What the hell is wrong with her? Why is she doing this to her?

"Sandy! What are you doing beating your own daughter?!!!" I shouted. Her mom got shocked a bit but her expression change when she heard what I said.

I held Sandy and help her get up, she's so pale and full of bruises. Is this really why she is not attending classes anymore? Of course, you idiot!

"Daughter? She isn't my daughter! She's a bastard! I don't know why do I need to raise someone's child! She's not even helping me! " Her mom shouted. I got furious at what she said. She's not even her daughter yet she's beating her so bad. She doesn't have the right to that!

"Why did you come? I told you many times not to, right?" she said.

"I was really worried and anxious about you." I said.

It's been half an hour since I got her out of her own house. And half an hour since the revelation about her identity, being a bastard. She's not her mother's daughter. She is someone else's daughter. Her father cheated on her wife and when she turned 3 her real mother died because of cancer and so her father took her to his home. Her life back then was happy because her father treats her very well although her father's wife didn't really like her at least that time she didn't treat her shit, yet. Until she turns 12, her father died due to a car accident. She was devastated and broken. And that was the time where she starts treating her shit, beating her so bad, calling her names and such.

She didn't tell anyone about it, especially to me. She doesn't want anyone to pity her.

"She's not your mom, why aren't you reporting her still? "

"I told you. She is. Even if it's not. She is. " She answered looking at the sky. I can feel her sadness and pain not by physical but emotional.

"But she is beating you so bad. Why did she do what she did to you? "

"That's the only way she can let her anger, for so many years, release. She was angry, no, mad at my father. He cheated. She couldn't give him a child and my father impregnate my mom. She was hurt, and still hurt about it. Just because she couldn't bear a child, she should experience being betrayed by her love. And somehow, I understand her. I do. " she said. Tears streaming down her face yet she smiles, sadly.

She raised her hands as if trying to reach the sky. "I wanted to rest," she said.

"Of course, you can," I said. Holding her shoulder, guiding her to lean on me so she can rest.

"You told me it's peaceful up there, that you worry no more when you get there. "

I look at her, feeling strange. What is she trying to say? But I nod at her. She smiles and looks at the river underneath us.

"The river's flow is beautiful and calm. I wish my life too" she chuckled at her statement. I stayed silent beside her. I don't like where her words leading to something I couldn't even utter.

"Shh... Just rest okay. Sleep and when you wake up, I'll take you to a place where food is abundant." she laughed at what I've said. I smile hearing her genuine laugh. That's what I need to hear from her every day.

Please I just want you to be happy, Sandy.
