Air and Kelp Got Together?

A/N: Let's switch up the format, shall we?

What if Air and Kelp got together?

Joy: Am I reading this right? I can't be reading this right.

Rainkeeper: Oh, you're definitely reading it right. It's just that weird.

Joy: But AIR and KELP? I can't even see that!

Rainkeeper: I know right?

Joy: No, like, actually. At least when people say you and Air, or me and Nightflyer- Hell, even Seashell and Winter, I have SOME idea of what's going on there. But with Air and Kelp it's just...

Rainkeeper: Blank because they're such a BROtp that shipping them almost feels like a sin?

Joy: YES.

Joy: Like how would that even happen? I can't imagien a single scenario where this even occurs.

Rainkeeper: Well, what about....

It was another night where our favorite Jade Winglet was breaking the rules. Seashell, Kelp, Air, Nightflyer, Joy, Qibli, Winter, Moon, and Rainkeeper were hanging out in a cave lit only by a small fire that Air and Qibli had provided. It was common for them to sneak out like this, to raid the Prey Center for a midnight snack and circle around a fire, talking about who knows what.

And it usually ended up with them playing a game. Maybe even a little truth or dare.

"Your turn, Air," Seashell said. "Truth or dare?"

"Dare!" Air insisted. "Do your worst."

"Knowing Seashell, it won't be anything THAT bad," Joy said, smirking. Seashell scowled, wracking her brain for a good dare for Air that would simutaneously piss Joy off. It was like a lightbulb went off in her brain when the idea frinally hit her.

"I dare you," She grinned deviously. "To kiss Kelp." Air's eyes widened and Joy snapped to attention, Nightflyer quickly freezing beside her. Kelp went red, looking slightly paincked as he glanced between Joy and Air.

"Okaaaaay," Air said slowly. She shrugged. "It's just a dare right?" Kelp nodded frantically, trying to silently reassure himself and Joy. 

"Right," Nightflyer agreed, his voice cracking with something that said he clearly did NOT agree. 

So Air leaned over and quickly kissed Kelp.

"Oh, that doesn't count!" Seashell exclaimed. "You barely touched him. Kiss him for real."

"That was a real kiss!" Air insisted.

"No it wasn't," Rainkeeper agreed. "We've all seen the way you kiss Nightflyer, and that wasn't a kiss. That was just lame."

"Try again." Seashell said, ignoring the death glares Kelp, Joy, and Nightflyer were sending her. Air rolled her eyes and pulled Kelp in for a proper kiss.

And sparks FLEW. It was like pure electricity, a zing, a flash of instantly falling head over heels into a love that could never be broken and-

Joy: Stop STOP STOP!

Rainkeeper: What?

Joy: Well for starters, that is SO unrealistic!

Rainkeeper: I have no idea what you're talking about.

Joy: You don't fall MADLY IN LOVE with somebody cause of ONE KISS.

Rainkeeper: Clealry we don't listen to the same music then.

Joy: And what happened at the end? At least I was believing you until THEN. But sparks flew? Seriously? How cliche and cheesy can you get?

Rainkeeper: Cliche enough to write a whole line of highly successful romance novels, thank you very much. But if you HATE my idea so much, then why don't YOU tell us how Air and Kelp would fall in love.

Joy: I don't wanna!

Rainkeeper: Why? Are you so dependent and overprotective or Kelp that you can't even hypothetically imagine a universe where you AREN'T with him?

Joy:...........

Rainkeeper: Oh my moons, I'm right.

Joy: NO YOU'RE NOT, SHUT UP. I'LL TELL A DAMN STORY.

Rainkeeper: Better make it good. I'm a harsh critic.

Joy: At least my version is gonna make SENSE.

Rainkeeper: I 'll believe it when I hear it.

Joy: Alright, so.....

It was the year before Kelp and Seashell were to attend JMA, and Tsunami was done spending time by the ocean. She didn't have anything against her home, of course, but she wanted a break, and Riptide agreed. So they decided to take a small vacation, and go visit Clay and Peril. It had been awhile since the four of them had caught up with each other, and since Air would be attending JMA next year with Kelp and Seashell, it would be good for them to make friends with each other. 

So while the adults sat around chatting with each other, Kelp, Seashell, Air, and Squelch stood awakwardly near each other, not sure what to do.

"Your talons are weird," Squelch said. 

"That's cause they're webbed," Seashell explained.

"That's weird."

"....You're weird."

"You're WEIRDER, Miss WEBBED TALONS." Seashell rolled her eyes and turned to Air.

"So what do you do for fun around here?" 

"Uh," Air started, looking around. "Normally I make stuff out of the clay by the river or....Oh! We could make mud pies!" Seashell crinkled her snout in disgust.

"Please tell me you don't eat them."

"What? No! That'd be so gross! There's just reeds and stuff around to make them fancy looking, and sometimes small animals end up living in them like they're little houses."

"Mud pie houses?" Kelp echoed. "That sounds AWESOME."

"Wanna make one?"

"YES."

"No," Seashell shook her head. Air shrugged.

"Your loss." She and Kelp headed for the muddiest part of the river, Squelch quickly trailing behind.

And so they bonded over making a proper mud pie and found themselves each thinking that the other was kinda cute or something. They got closer when they went to school and romance flourished or some shit, I don't know-

Rainkeeper: How is THAT more believable?

Joy: Well obviously Air and Kelp wouldn't end up together if they had met me and Nightflyer first, so I was covering my tracks.

Rainkeeper: It was stupid.

Joy: It was believable.

Rainkeeper: No it wasn't, you wanna know why?

Joy: Why?

Rainkeeper: Because Air and Kelp is such a weird ship that it would NEVER happen, so there's no logical way to say how they get together since it's not logical. 

Joy: That makes sense....They'd never get along as a couple anyways.

Rainkeeper: No way.

Elsewhere.....

Air landed on the top of a hill, a familiar Seawing right across from her.

"Did anyone see you leave?" Kelp asked worriedly.

"Nope," Air grinned and then pulled him in for a kiss. "I'm all yours." He smiled back.

"Perfect."
