"Waitwaitwait, you have never played Detroit?!" Your friend yelled, almost spilling their drink as they whip around to face you.

"No, and please keep it down. People are staring" You mumble before taking another sip of your drink.
Your friend, that before had been a little ahead of you on the pavement, slowed down and locked arms with you.
They had always been like this. Just the wonders of an introvert being adopted by a extrovert.

"But seriously, we got to get you that game. Its a fricking gem. You have at least heard of it, haven't you?"

"I have, but I tried to go into it blind. I just never had the money to buy it"

"Well shit, I guess I'm going to have to buy it for you, huh?

"Wait what"

Hold it right there buckaroo. You just stepped up to the fastest timeskipper on this side of the Atlantic.

"Aight, the game is downloading" Your friend yelled from the living room. You walked back out the kitchen with a pair of energy drinks in your hands.

"Nice. And remember, no spoilers" You put down the cans and sat in the sofa.

"Yeah yeah, don't worry" They took one of the cans and opened it.

"So is this one of them with bastard qte's?" You opened your own and took a sip.

"Oh yeah. You won't see them coming before they hit you square in the face"

"Ughhhh"

"It's worth it tho, it's a really- Hey look, it's done"

"That was... Incredibly fast"

"I think the rest downloads in the background, now come on" They said and gave you the controller. You clicked the game and...

Oh

You choked on your drink, beginning to cough violently. Your friend just laughed and sat your drink down for you. There was a lady on the menu screen.

"Don't worry you lesbian disaster, it only gets worse from now on"

"Cough sorry, I was just caught off guard"

"Just set the settings and let's go"
You looked to the screen, blue eyes staring directly back at you.

Timeskip!

You had been playing for quite some time now, quickly pausing the game before yawning harder than you thought possible. Your friend had to go home hours ago, but you had kept playing. It was such a good game.

You looked at the clock.

3. AM

You sighed and went to the main menu. Your eyes instantly widened again as they locked with the woman on the screen.
"Goddammit, control your gay". You mumbled to yourself and closed the game before you went to bed.

Another timeskip

It had been a couple of days since your friend bought you the game, and you had been playing it at every given opportunity. Which granted, haven't been a lot, since you had been very busy.

But you had managed to get to the end, and damn if you didn't cry just a bit.

You called your friend right when it ended, wanting to thank them for the awesome recommendation.

"I finished the game" You put your phone on speaker and laid it on tre counter in the kitchen as you began making some food.

"Damn, that didn't take you long. Almost wish I had been there"

"Yeah, it was really good"

"So did you manage to not kill everyone?"

"Yeah, and thank fuck for that. I don't think my heart could have handled it"

"I think that's the meaning of the game. Ya know, to gain the feeling of  a relation to these fictional people"

"It worked on me at least. 'Cept Todd."

"Fuck Todd"

"Fuck Todd"

"So did ya let her go?"

"Who?"

"The title girl. Is she still there?"
You looked up at the still running TV, where you had left it on the title.

"Yeah, she is still there"

"Huh. Funny. I thought for sure that you would let her go"

"What do you mean?"

"You know, when she asked you to let her go or not"

"Err... She didn't ask that" You washed your hands and picked the phone back up.

"Wait what?"

"Yeah. She is still here"

"Do you think it's a bug or something?"

"Dunno. Does it matter?"

"Well, it was kinda supposed to be this big choice where you would let her dissappear from the main title forever or have her reset her memory or some shit. Seems like the game spared you for that emotional trauma, huh?"

"I guess so. Either way, just wanted to say thanks for the game"

"Aye, no problem. Just remember that the next time you don't want to play Dark Sou-"

"Nope"

"Awh well. Talk to ya later"
You hung up the phone and put it in your pocket. You then looked at the woman on the screen in front of you.

"If it's a bug, then it sure is a good one" You mumbled to yourself before going to finish your food.

Yet another fucking timeskip

You woke up to the feeling of being watched. Which is always a good sign.
It was then followed by the distinct sound of a picture being taken. This woke you up fully.

"Who-" You turned on the lights before promptly shutting your mouth in fear.

All the screens in your little apartment was turned to you, showing you a face you knew very well.

"I apologise. It was not my intention to wake you"
She said with a smile. It took all of your willpower to not scream like a little kid.

"Wha- what are you doing?" You didn't know which screen to look at. Your phone? The TV? Your work laptop?

"I am simply watching over you as you sleep. I must ensure your safety" She clocked her head slightly.
You then just bolted up and ran to the door, flinging it open and running onto the street. It was freezing in only your small shorts and old t-shirt, but you barely felt it as the adrenaline was pumping through your veins.
You stopped first when you had reached the inner city. It was thankfully empty, so noone could really be concerned about the near naked woman that was running like Satan was on her heels.

You leaned against a store front, your breaths shallow and quick. You then looked up and into the store.
Right next to the window was a big electric ad. Well, now there was a face staring back at you. You froze in complete shock.

"Why did you run away?" Her voice came from the several speakers that was placed around the shopping district.
You stood back up and looked into her blue eyes.

"What do you want?" You had managed to calm down from the initial shock of your cruel wakening.

"I want to take care of you"

"Okay. And you are not going to murder me while I sleep?"

"Of course not! The last thing I want to come to you is harm. Just come home"

"Alright"

"Thank you"

Life with cyber waifu was honestly not that bad at all. She was just a bit controlling sometimes, that was all.

But just you fucking wait until they make AI robots widely available. Then you'll be in for a ride.
