Once upon a time, in a faraway land, there was a small but prosperous kingdom rich with romance and tradition. Here, in a stately chateau, lived a widowed man and his young daughter, [Name]. And although he was a kind and devoted father, he felt [Name] needed a motherly figure in her life. So, he married again, to a woman of good family and with two young daughters of her own, each named Anastasia and Drizella.

However, it was upon the untimely death of [Name]'s father, that the step-mother revealed her true nature; cold, cruel, and bitterly jealous of [Name]'s charm and beauty, the step-mother was determined to forward the interest of her own two daughters.

Thus, eventually, the chateau went into disrepair, for the family fortune was squandered upon the two selfish and cruel step-sisters. Meanwhile, [Name] was abused, humiliated, and eventually forced to become a servant in her own house.

Yet, through it all, [Name] remained ever gentle and kind, for with each dawn she found new hope that someday... someday, her dreams of happiness would come true...

[Name] was sleeping early that morning in the topmost tower of the chateau, with her arm draped over her face as she began to stir. As she threw her arm down on the bed, the room seemed to brighten as she was suddenly opening her eyes to the sounds of birds chirping at the end of her bed.

When she sat up to stretch and yawn, she spotted two bluebirds fluttering around her head excitedly. She chuckled as they flew back down to the end of her bed, looking at her expectantly.

"What gives, hmm?" [Name] teased, crossing her arms. "Spoiling people's best dreams?"

The birds flew towards the open window of her room chirping and jumping on her window frame. "Yes, I know it's a lovely morning! But... it was a lovely dream, too..."

The birds chirped quizzically at her as [Name] leaned back into her pillow with a distant look in her eyes.

"Hmm? Oh, what kind of dream?" she fiddled with her fingers sheepishly, "I can't tell. 'Cause if you tell a wish, it won't come true... and after all...

"A dream is a wish your heart makes,

"When your fast asleep,

"In dreams, you will lose your heartaches,

"Whatever you wish for,

"You keep...

As she continued singing, more small birds flew their way into her room, and the mice sat around the floor, all listening to her soft morning serenade. She took a brush through her hair as she sang, even smiling as she glanced through her window and spotted the castle sitting across the quaint, romantic town.

"Have faith in your dreams, and someday,

"Your rainbow will come smiling through...

"No matter how your heart is grieving,

"If you keep on believing,

"The dream that you wish...

"Will come true..."

As [Name] took a breath, the clocktower atop the castle rang out, startling her and all of her animal friends. She quickly sat up, putting the brush down on her nightstand and throwing the covers off of her feet, and stomping toward the window.

"Oh, that clock!" she huffed and shouted out of her window, "old killjoy, I hear you! Come on, get up! You say. Time to start another day!.. Well, you can't order me to stop dreaming!"
