I. Was. Bored. As. Hell.

The village basically sent us to do all the errands that they were too lazy to themselves. Like, fetching water, chopping trees, and all that sh*t. Well, I guess it's only fair. In exchange for labor they give me a home and food to eat.

All this time I haven't heard from anyone from the academy. I did send some messages, but I haven't been sent any replies. When I asked the villagers if they heard anything from the mountain regions, they just looked at me weird.

One night while most of the guards were out drinking, I packed my weapons, spare clothing, and food. Then...left.

It was regretful I couldn't join my teammates on more missions, but I felt it was time. I had trained for a month already, and even the Kitsune had approved of my current skill.

It was still far from being superior, but I was able to fend for myself and be a feared opponent.

Creeping slowly in the shadows of the trees, I was careful not to step on any twigs or alert the guards. Suddenly a knife whizzed past my cheek and landed with a thud on the tree beside me.

I jumped and looked around rapidly, then sighed in relief. Phew, no one had heard. I glared while turning back to the knife embedded in the tree.

This thing had almost alerted the guards!

Looking closer, I found a pouch and a note pinned against the tree with the knife. After pulling the knife out, I stuffed the pouch in my traveling bag and read the note.

Kasumi our idiotic friend, did you think that you could sneak around and pack your stuff beforehand without us noticing? Well, you're wrong. We DID notice. And you left without even saying goodbye?! How could you?! There are healing pills in the pouch, so use them. Last of all, as stupid and idiotic you are we, we will miss you. You are after all, our treasured teammate. Take care. -Ryo, Amaya, Daichi

Daichi: You're still a loser.

Amaya: I still won't let you have Daichi when you get back!

I was twitching from annoyance and felt touched at the same time. Idiotic? LOSER?! There shall be payback! And who the hell would want His Emo-ness The First?!

The letter was mostly in Ryo's handwriting and there was a few ink blotches in the middle of the paper. I snickered, they probably argued over who would write first...I fought back the empty feelings flowing into my chest.

I would definitely miss them when I left, but this was something that I had to do. Suzu and Haru might be in deep trouble for all I knew. The reason I hard trained hard for was this.

Grinding my teeth together, I set off on my journey back to where everything had begun.

Traveling a few days later.

Wiping the sweat coating my forehead, I took out my water and greedily gulped the drink. Closing the cap, I looked around and saw that there was nothing but trees surrounding the empty forest path.

I started to jog and after a few hours, I stopped to rest. By now, the sun had risen and the path had become clearer and clearer. Squinting my eyes in the distance, I could make out a building.

Running to it gleefully, I thought that it was the academy. But it turns out it was something else entirely...

Walking toward the white and polished building, I walked inside. The doors shut behind my back, making me want to face palm. Great. This is what happens to the stupid characters in the horror movies, like, all the time.

Yay, I'm probably going to die now. Go and prepare my coffin in advance, I'd like to request it to be be pink and painted with rainbows and unicorns please. Like, note the sarcasm people.

Gosh stop saying like!!

Okay so, back to the situation at hand. I was praying to god and waving my hands like a crazed priest, when suddenly a door pushed open and a robotic female voice asked me the password.

"Uh..."

"Incorrect."

Psst, Kitsune give me a hint. No answer. -.-

Geez when need her she doesn't answer! Probably taking a snooze some where while I sit and wait for my death.

"Please f*cking open."

"Incorrect."

"D*mn it."

"Incorrect."

"...unicorns?"

"Incorrect." Man, I'm out of ideas.

"Please state your password before we will be forced to shut down."

Ack! Uh. Uh... Sh*t. Um. Oh!! I got it!!

Instead of answering the password, I gathering a bunch of wind in my hand and blew into all the holes and patterns on the door. The door swung open and released a-

pungent smell. It was metallic mixed with the smell of trash. I hesitated, but went in anyway. Besides, I already made it this far anyway. Patting the part of the bag where Ruri was sleeping, I felt my breathing begin to even out a little.

Stepping into the dark demonic hole, I slowly began to walk down the metal stairs.

There is more to this that is slightly scarier. This is NOT YET to the scary part.
