I was hanging out with my brothers, Johnny, and Dally, waiting for Two-Bit and Nic to show up, when I see my boyfriend slowly walking down the road. I run up and tackle Two-Bit into a fierce hug, when I notice a very unimpressed Nic falling behind.
"What happened to YOU?" I ask, staring at Nic's very greasy head.
"HE happened," Nic replies.
"What did you do?!"
"I was trying to make him a true greaser... No harm done, right?"
"Only to my HAIR!"
"Chill, dude. Your hair looked--"
"BOYS!!!" I holler.
Two-Bit blushes under my intense death-glare. Probably ashamed that a girl about 2 years younger than him had intimidated him. Yup, that's me.
"How do you think your brother feels?"
"Greasy?" He suggested, and then received a death glare that should've melted him into plastic. Or whatever.
"...No?" He changed his mind very quickly.
"No. He just showed up on your doorstep, and this is how you treat him!?" I shriek.
"Oh yeah, by the way, where'd Sophia go?" I ask, to no one in particular.
"She's locked up in her our room. Somehow, I think being the only girl and having a second brother now isn't having the greatest effect on her--" Starts Two-Bit.
I interrupt. "--Hello!? You're talking to the only girl in a house of three boys, and I'm doing perfectly fine."
"Right. Good point."
"So anyways, this is Nicolas Morrison. Two-Bit and Sophia's half-brother. Y'all had better be nice to him, or you'll have me to answer to. Got it?" I said.
Even Dally seems intimidated.
"Good. Nic will be starting school with us in about a week or so. Since it's the start of a new school year, we're gonna need to stick together and ignore those stuck-up Socs (Nic flinches at this, though I have no idea why). I'm gonna show him around town. Catch you guys later!"
I feel like a principal that just made a 'welcome-back-to-school-and-by-the-way-we-have-a-new-student' speech. As I watch the gang's retreating backs, I look over to Nic and yell; "RACE YA TO THE PARK!"
I zoom past Johnny's house and the gas station, past the drug store, and screech to a halt at the park and sit down on one of the swings. About 5 seconds later, a very out-of-breath Nic plops down on the swing beside me.
"You're *wheeze* fast! *wheeze*"
"I race my brothers all the time, and I love soccer."
Nic catches his breath then replies; "Me too! Does the school have a team?"
"Yeah. There's probably going to be a co-ed team this year. Last year, the girls that tried out were horrible at soccer, so I joined the boys' tryout. We're supposed to have a new sponsor this season, so we're most likely getting new equipment and uniforms."
"Cool." Nic mutters.
"You're a quiet one, aren't you? Don't worry, we'll break you out of your shell eventually."
I pat him gently on the back and we just sit silently on the swings, the sky slowly turning pink, then purple, to midnight black.
