jily: more than friends

I head down to the Great Hall before everyone. When all my friends come down they look at me with confusion.
"Hey James... your look like you got punched in both eyes and got black eyes," Lily says highly confused. I chuckle and say "I hit my head when I was getting up." "Prongs, you couldn't have, I stayed up till 4 and you didn't come to the dorm." Sirius joins in the conversation. "Oh yeah, fell asleep in the common room." I try to lie my way through.
"Well that's impossible, Marlene was rolling around all night so I slept downstairs," Alice said. I stay quiet and everyone stares at me. I did sneak out and go to a tree last night, I assume Alice went up to her dorm before I got back. When I Sirius says "mate, what's wrong?" "Nothing," I mumble. they all think I'm brave, I can't let them know I had a pity nightmare. I finish breakfast before everyone and I go to my room. There are 3 days left until the dance. 2 until Quidditch. 1 day left of detention, okay. I get changed into my robes and then Sirius, Remus and Peter come in. They make an attempt to ask me what was wrong and I got mad and yelled "NOTHING!" I storm out of the room and head to Transfigurations. McGonagall had us try to turn rats into goblets. Me, the Marauders and Lily all got it on our first try. McGonagall was pleased. 

After lunch I was still mad because everyone thought I wasn't okay, I mean I was really but I just pretend I am. I would swear to say I am okay.

The day has gone by pretty slowly. I feel asleep for a quick second during D.A.D.A and Potions but I'm all good. I head down for supper and eat. I have detention, I have to clean the trophies. It takes me and Padfoot around an hour. We head to our dorm. I am gonna rest for five minutes. I lay down and fall into a deep sleep.

"I am sorry James, I just don't love you. Sirius is better, we are done. I'm sorry," Lily's voice is ringing in my ears. "I don't love you."

I wake up to Peter vigorously tapping me on the shoulder. I wake up, jumping up. I run downstairs. I go right up to Sirius and slap him in the face. 'OI MATE? WHAT WAS THAT FOR?" He yells, clearly angered. Oh, my God. I just realized what I've done. I run out of the common room, and down by the lake. I sit there, knees to chest, thinking. Gosh darn it James. You've done it once again. You might as well slap Dumbledore as well. I hear the sound of leaves crunchy below someone's feet. I look down to see a pair of black boots. Sirius sits next to me and says "I know you didn't mean it, mate. Something has been botherin you, I know that because your my best friend. What is bothering you?" I can't stand it anymore, I say everything, "I've been having this reoocuring nightmare, you're in it, and it angers me. I mean you've always been the crowd pleaser, I'm just a sidekick, honestly." He laughs, "you are joking, you must be. We are equally as stubborn, as stupid and as funny. I mean I am obviously better looking though." We chuckle. After 30 minutes of being outside we go inside. I head straight to bed. I was exhausted.
