After a hectic 11 hour journey with 2 hours of transit, they finally landed in Nigeria and they couldn't be happier. It was extremely tiring and they just wanted to sleep. Immediately they came down from the airplane, Amina squealed inhaling her first Nigerian air in months. Fatima shook her head at her friend.

An hour later and they were done with all airport procedures and had gotten their luggage. Mama had already informed Fatima that the driver was in the airport and when Amina spoke with her brother about 30 minutes ago, he told her he was almost at the airport so he should have gotten there by now.

Ya Sadiq and Ya Amal were standing in front of the arrivals gate when they came out. "Yaya!" Amina shouted and ran to hug her brother and his wife. "I missed you!" She squeezed Amal. Fatima was standing behind her shaking her head at her friend.

"Ina wuni" Fatima greeted them. Amal came forward and hugged her, "so you're the Fatima that Amina has been disturbing us about" and she hugged her. Fatima chuckled hugging her back. "You're so pretty Ma Shaa Allah" she commented making her to blush. "Thank you" Fatima replies.

They talked for sometime before they had to leave. "Who is coming to pick you?" Ya Sadiq asked after he came back from taking Amina's luggage to the car. The three of them were sitting on waiting chairs while he went to take the bags with one of the trolley pushers. "Our driver, let me call him. He should be here by now" and she brought out her phone to dial Malam Ahmadu's number.

"Salam Alaikum, ina wuni Malam Ahmadu" she greeted. "Lafiya lau, how was the journey? Kin iso?" He asked. "Alhamdulillah, yes I can't see you anywhere."

"Okay toh, let me come and help you with your bags. She thanked him and ended the call. "You guys can leave, he will be here in a while" she told them. "We'll just wait for him since he is already in the airport" Amal replies.

"Mama!" Fatima exclaims dropping her hand bag. Then she saw her dad behind her mom and didn't know when tears started dropping out of her eyes. She ran to hug her mom, "mama I missed you so much" she hiccuped. "Daddy!" She hugged her dad too. By then, her tears were uncontrollable. "You guys tricked me" she pouts at her mom and dad. She was so happy to see her parents after so long.

After exchanging pleasantries with her family, Amina and her finally bid each other goodbye and finally left to go home. "You better not forget to call me!" Amina threatens. "I've heard you ma'am" Fatima replies jokingly.

They put all of her luggages in the trunk of the car with the help of one of the airport trolley pushers and then they finally left. Fatima's window was open throughout as she inhaled the breeze blowing on her face.

For the next week, Fatima decided to stay at home and rest. She watched Netflix throughout and ate all
the food she has missed. No one, apart from her family knew she was back because if they knew, everyone would want to come and 'see' her when really they just want to see if she has become miserable. A lot of people that claimed to be her well wishers were only there, waiting to see her and her parents down fall, especially her fathers family. They were extremely selfish and treated anyone that wasn't part of them badly.

They all thought her and her mom were obnoxious and felt like they were better than everyone. She didn't want to deal with any fake people just yet but her mom forced her to go to her Aunty's house to greet them and tell them she was back. Mama Hadiza is her dad's immediate younger sibling and the only one that lives in Abuja apart from them. He has two other sisters and a brother. One of his sisters lives in kaduna with her husband and two daughters and the other sister and brother live in Kano with their families too.

She didn't want to go but if she didn't, it was going to become a major issue and her mom was going to get a backlash for it. Sometimes Fatima wondered why her dad's family was just unbearable and she could never come up with an answer. It was just their nature and there wasn't a single nice person amongst them, except for her dad of course.

She got dressed in a black abaya and got a pink veil that would go with the outfit and finally slid on her shoes before stepping out of her room. Her mom was already dressed in a multicolored lace boubou with a white veil and was watching an Indian series as she waited for her to finish getting dressed. "Mama I'm ready, let's go" she called as she walked down the stairs. Her mom turned to analyze her outfit and immediately started shaking her head a no.

"Baki; black Fatima?" She asked exasperated. "Are you mourning or what?" She asked again. "Mourning kuma?" Fatima asked confused. "Yes, or you want your aunty to say you have spoiled. You know how your father's family is. Dan Allah I don't want trouble, go and change into traditional clothes." She ended, not leaving any room for arguments.

She sighed frustrated and went back upstairs to change. They hadn't even left the house and she was already annoyed. She opened her drawers and looked at her clothes.

After contemplating for about five minutes, she finally decided on a purple and gold ankara skirt and blouse with stones all over the blouse. Then she got a golden veil to go with it and finally spritzed some perfume. She looked at herself in the floor length mirror and sighed, "I can't wait to get this done with."

They finally left the house at around 3pm. Mama Hadiza lives in lokogoma which was about fourty minutes away from their house if there was no traffic. Unfortunately for them, there was traffic since it was a Saturday and they spent over an hour on the road. Fatima was frustrated and annoyed throughout and by the time they got there, she was sure she would explode on someone.

She let out a huge sigh as she got out of the car, "ya Allah, let me leave this house in peace" she prayed under her breath and walked into the house behind her mom saying a salaam.
