The next day

Gary: (I woonder what happened to Ash after that night. People don't go into the Lumiose badlands late at night for nothing)
Serena: (Time to confront him. It's weird how it feels I met him before)

Bell rings for break
Serena: (Alright, time to ask him)
Serena: Can I have a word with you
Gary: Sure
Serena: Alone
Gary: Umm......ok

Gary: So, what did you want to talk about?
Serena: Tell me where you went last night
Gary: Um..... I.....
Gary: (Damn did she see me)
Gary: I-, I-, I-
Serena: You followed Ash, didn't you
Gary: Yes, yes I did
Serena: Why did you go despite his threats
Gary: Because that's what you do for a friend
Serena: But he looked so coldly at you. How were you sure that he wouldn't hurt you
Gary: He woldn't. I know he wouldn't.

Awkward silence. Both Serena and Gary secretly look at eachother, thinking that the other looked rather familiar. Silence continues till Gary decides to confront her since it's Gary; he has no time to be shy

Gary: Pardon me if I am being weird or anything like that but, you look kind of familiar
Serena: Now that you mentio it, you feel familiar as well
Gary starts thinking
Gary: You said you never left Kalos
Serena: Never, except once
Gary: When?
Serea: Hmm.....when I was little..like 7 years old....I went to Prof. Oak's summer camp in Kanto.
Gary: Bingo!
Serena: Huh!
Gary: I went there too
Serena starts to remember
Serena: Wait, you were Prof. Oak's granson who had the spiky brown hair and a giagntic ego
Gary: HEY!! I remember too; you were that shy little straw hat girl
Serena: Yup, that's me!
They shake hands
Serena: It's so good to see you again after so many years
Gary: Same here
Serena: How have you been?
Gary: Amazing as always
Serena giggles a bit but then stops and turns very quiet. A faint flashback comes into her mind.

Serena: Anywhere there? Anyone? Please help me!
*Serena falls over in front of a tree
Serena starts crying but then stops when she hears a rustling in the bushes. She means to immediately draw back as if she was afraid of what might be there
???: Poliwag! Poliwag, Are you there?
Instead of a wild animal a young raven-haired boy comes out
???: Are you hurt
Serena didn't know what to say but nodded her head
???: can you walk
Serena shakes her head
???: Don't worry everything will be fine. Never give up until the end, that's what I always say
Serena stares at the boy
???: Now come up.
??? pulls Serena up and holds her straight to camp

Gary: Ummm.... Earth to Serena, are you there?
Serena snaps out of her thoughts
Serena: Gary, if you were the spiky-haired boy then does that mean......
Gary: Yes.......
Gary: Ash was your best friend all those years back

The next day
Gary: Blastoise use Ice Beam
Calem: Chesnaught use Wood Hammer
Ice Beam hits first taking out Chesnaught
Referee: Chesnaught is unable to battle, Blastoise is the winner!
Calem: GAH, YOU GOT LUCKY
Gary: Maybe you would have beaten if you didn't have that giant ego.
Calem: Shut up you loser

Calem storms out and bumps into Ash
Calem: Watch where your going freak
Ash doesn't respond
Calem: You think you're gonna get away with that you human freak
Ash: Shut up!
Calem: What's that
Ash: SHUT UP!
Calem: Oh yeah! I will shut up! Why don't you shut up, Mr. Freak Show. I bet your parents are ashamed of you for being like this
Ash: WHAT DID YOU SAY!
Calem: Heh let me repeat it for you. I be-
Ash kicks Calem with full force. 1 kick is enough to make him fall to the ground and get a sprain.
Ash: Beware of what you say next to me next time
Ash leaves

That evening. Near the north-eastern gate of Lumiose facing route 14. Serena is walking there alone, thinking about a test that went horribly wrong. She wasn't really upset about it, but she just wanted to be some time alone when.....
