Kingsley EjioforThe ladies man. The drop dead gorgeous guy that everyone in the Faculty of Engineering was after. Part three student of Elect Elect, short for Electrical and Electronical Engineering. And no, he didn't just have the looks, he had the money and the famous family name.
Everyone who came across him on campus would never forget him, not just because of his charming looks but also because of his extra charming personality. He was everybody's guy. The ladies loved him and the guys wanted to be him.
Smart;check. Good-looking;check. Got money;check. The complete willingness to spend that money; check check check.
King, as he was popularly called was a man of the world. Parties, clubs, girls, alcohol, drugs; he was right in the center of it all. So much so that Tomike ended up a smoker after dating him for four years.
Tomike as well as King's friends never really knew what he saw in her. She was beautiful, sure, but there were more beautiful girls willing to throw themselves on the floor for him.
"She's different, she is" his husky voice would blurt out whenever they asked him. "She's got all I need. Honestly"
But truthfully King didn't feel that way about her in the begining. It all started as a bet between he and his friends. It was a question of who could get the uptight fresher girl in computer science department who had turned down several proposals already from the baddest of the baddest guys in her faculty and on campus. A friend of his was one of the guys she left with a bruised ego after she washed him clean with her words for pestering her with a relationship.
His plan was to woo her, sweep her off her feet and then finally get into bed with her. But, oh well, his plan backfired. He fell in love, and in the worst way as well. The irony, Tomike was the one who broke his heart in the end. A 'jokes on you' kind of situation.
Tomike was suprised the first day he approached her. She was coming back from a class all alone when suddenly a tall good looking figure started walking beside her, his hands in his pocket, serious faced, looking straight on. She was a little confused, she didn't know if he was walking with her or walking on his own just a little too close to her. But after a few steps she had figured it was the former.
"You're a little too close for comfort don't you think?" She asked and his serious face melted into a smile, the most beautiful smile Tomike had seen on a man. Then he turned to look at her. Those dimples nearly gave her a stroke. His smile was contagious, and soon Tomike was smiling too. She knew she ought not to, not in that situation, but what to do? She had fallen. She couldn't help herself.
"Wow, the girl smiles"
"Yes she does. Do I know you?"
"No, but you will soon" he winked.
Tomike now tried to cough herself back to sanity.
"I'll rephrase that, I know you"
"Really? And what have you heard?"
Tomike stopped and turned to look at him.
"That you are the rich, proud, obnoxious, good looking guy who thinks he's all that because he's had sex with half of the school. And from what I see, it might just be a little too subtle in describing your personality"
King was a little taken aback by her statement, but he had anticipated worse so he held his ground. He chukled. Tomike still had a bright smile on her face which threw him off a little, he was unable to read her mind as her words and facial expression didn't align.
"Those are really nice words coming from a really nice lady. I'll take that as a compliment"
"Good for you" Tomike shot back at him. She started walking again, this time at a faster pace.
"What's your name?"
"Why ask when you already know" The smile on her face had now dissolved into a frown. She wasn't going to play this game anymore. She was over his pretty face now and just wanted to get to her hostel to get some rest.
"I want to hear it from you"
She stopped walking again, she took in a deep breath with her eyes closed and then turned to him.
"Look Kingesly, I know what you are trying to do. I get it, you have to get with a new girl every now and then to feel like a man. But I've been through too much to be involved in all of that. I'm here to get a degree and I'm not interested in what you have to offer. You are really good looking, I admit. But to be honest with you, I really don't think it's enough to get me. Good day" she gave him a quick pat on his shoulder and walked away.
King was stunned. She was straightforward, stern and even called him by his full name. But that wasn't enough to stop him. If anything his revolve had strengthened and he was more determined than ever to get Tomike, more determined to win his bet.

Hello guys! My book just passed 1k reads and I'm so excited!💃💃Thank you for all your love and support, thank you!
Lemme confess something to ya'll🙈, I wasn't sure whether or not to add King's character to the plot. It meant introducing a romance theme to the book which isn't the way I want this book to go. But oh well, here we are. Tell me what you think about him in the comments, I'd love to know.
