The footsteps of Madam Pomfrey could be heard as she walked over to Draco’s bed. His curtains were drawn so he couldn't actually see her but he knew she was coming to give him medicine. After asking if he was decent, she pulled the curtains back so she could see Draco lying with his hands behind his head. He glanced quickly to his right when the curtains ruffled and Pomfrey looked at him with narrowed eyes.

‘Probably just the wind,’ Draco stated, glancing at the window that was cracked open a little. Pomfrey gave him a curt nod and held up a bottle that looked like an hourglass.

Without a word Madam Pomfrey poured a yellow liquid into a glass beside Draco’s bed as the blonde boy stared at it in disgust. It looked more like urine than anything else, Draco thought but Madam Pomfrey seemed not phased at all by the disgusting smell that issued of the drink in waves. He sat up in his bed, leaning his back against his pillows.

‘What... is that?’ Draco felt compelled to ask as she put a cloth over the drink and hid the yellow liquid out of sight, thankfully. She met Draco’s grey eyes with tired ones of her own since she’d had a lot of paperwork to fill in today even though she only had to take care of one patient which was Draco.

‘It’s a potion that must be taken as soon as you are awake, Mr Malfoy, no excuses whatsoever. It tastes vile and smells disgusting but you must grit your teeth and drink it all in one go,’ Pomfrey stated, smoothing out his bed sheets and grimacing as she noticed a chocolate stain on them.

‘And if I choose not to drink it?’ Draco asked, doubtfully looking under the cloth to see if the potion was bubbling – it wasn’t, which was probably a good thing. The smell had been blocked out by placing a cloth over the top of the glass and by Pomfrey muttering an enchantment on it.

‘If you do not drink this your bleeding will start up and we don’t want that happening. Now, get some rest and remember to drink the potion in the morning,’ Pomfrey said, yawning hugely and moving towards the curtains around Draco’s bed, ‘I think you’ll be out of here by morning but don’t go anywhere until I check you.’

‘Yes, ma’am,’ Draco muttered, lying back on his pillow and nearly sinking into the comfort of it. Draco was sure that these pillows in the hospital wing had some sort of magic on them since they are a lot more comfortable than his dormitory pillows.

Madam Pomfrey gave him a curt nod and a slightly softer ‘goodnight’ before shutting the curtains around his bed. Staring up at the ceiling, Draco heard the clip clop of Pomfrey’s shoes on the tiled floor, the click as the lights shut off and he was emerged in profound darkness, Pomfrey walking back to her office/residence and yawning as she did so before closing the door of her office.

She had a small bed and kitchen in there which was pretty useful to her which meant that she could take care of herself and her patients at the same time. After a couple of minutes, Draco saw the light that emitted from her room through his thin curtains and soon it was turned off. Whispering a spell that stopped Pomfrey from hearing anything around his bed, he turned to the side where he knew someone was lurking.

‘You can come out now,’ he whispered into the darkness. From behind the curtains, a lit up wand pointed at the ceiling. Draco looked up and smirked as Hermione came into his view. Her hair was pushed up in a pony tail and her usually calm brown eyes were looking quite frightened of being caught by Pomfrey or any other teacher for that matter, ‘turn that light off!’

Hermione quickly whispered ‘nox’ and the light switched off immediately. They stayed in darkness for a second, trying to hear any sounds of Pomfrey but nothing happened. Draco switched on the lamp next to his table and watched as Hermione closed the window next to his bed. She turned back to him and Draco smirked when she started to unnecessarily whisper.
