Chapter 5: The Proposal

Smurfette's POV

I stood there on the beach waiting, clad in my captain's uniform. I knew no one would here anymore, not since Gargamel attacked and destroyed Smurfy Grove, so I figured it would be the best spot for what was gonna come next.

It took about an hour of waiting for Stormy to get there, but I eventually saw her on Spitfire headed right towards me. I waved to her, and thankfully she saw me, flying down to my position. She landed a few feet from me, with a concerned look on her face.

"What's wrong? Is everything okay?" she asked, worried.

"No, no no," I said, trying to calm her, "It's fine. I just really wanted to talk to you about something. Something important."

"Okay, what is it?" she said, taking my hand.

"Well, I...," I begun, trying to get the words out.

"Hey, you can tell me," she said, "Come on, we can walk and talk about it together."

She took my hand and we walked into the forest, admiring the midnight sky. It was amazing at this hour. The forest vegetation was all bio-luminescent, the stars were shining like diamonds, and the creatures were all resting peacefully in their dens.

"Wow, pretty night tonight," Stormy said. holding me close.

"Reminds me of the night of our first kiss," I said, giggling.

"Yeah, I still remember that night. You?" she asked me.

"Every bit, especially since I went first since you were too scared to kiss me."

"Oh, shucks, you're making me blush."

We walked further into the forest, finally stopping on top of a hill that gave us a good view of the whole place. It was a beautiful sight, reaching onward for miles.

Stormy then turned, her eyes peering into mine.

"So, what do you want to talk about?" she finally asked me.

I looked down, nervous about this. I knew I had to do it, I just couldn't put it off anymore.

"Well," I said, looking up, "I was thinking a bit about what you said last night, and I think...I think you're right. We need to tell them."

Stormy looked at me, surprised at the response.

"You serious?" she asked me.

"Yes, it's time we tell them. And if they hate us for it, so be it. I'd rather tell them and let them hate us and be with you rather then not telling them and just carry this weight on my shoulders."

"You-you mean it?" she asked, stammering.

"Yes, I do," I said, pulling her up, "I mean, you're my girlfriend, my co-captain, my everything. You lifted me up after I broke up with Hefty, and if it wasn't for you, I don't know where I'd be."

"Wow, that's the nicest thing you've ever said to me."

"I know, and I know one other thing."

"What's that?"

"You are the love of my life. There's no Smurf I'd rather be with than you."

I pulled out a little box from my pocket and got down on one knee. This was it, the big question, and if I went down in flames, so be it.

"Smurfstorm," I said, pulling open the box to reveal the ring inside, "will you marry me?"

Stormy held her hands to her face, crying tears of joy.

"You mean it?" she asked, tearing up, "you wanna marry me?"

"Yes, more than anything, yes. The only question now is, do you?"

Stormy looked at me, nodding her eyes with tears flowing down her face.

"Yes!" she said, pulling me in for a hug, embracing me tight. I took her hand and slid the ring onto it. It was a simple but intricate design, with small engravings that read "I love you" in elvish.

No sooner did I slip it onto her finger did Stormy and I both kiss each other, more overjoyed and in love than ever before.

As soon as we got back to the beach, we both hopped on top of Spitfire, and we just sat there, holding each other close.

"You sure they'll take this well?" Stormy asked

"I have hope," I said, hopeful that the other Smurfs would be open minded about this.

As soon as we got settled, Stormy tugged on Spitfire, pulling us upwards and taking us back home. We didn't know what we would face, but one thing was certain: we wouldn't face it alone.
